Social media sensation turned boxer Jake Paul may have bitten off more than he can chew by taking on Hasim Rahman Jr in New York.
The son of a two-time world heavyweight champion, Rahman has won 12 of his 13 pro fights after previously competing in over 100 amateur bouts.
We reckon the 31-year-old is great value at 2.75 in the Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr odds.
Jake Paul Odds
Paul has put together a 5-0 record by beating a YouTuber, a former basketball player and ex-mixed martial arts fighters.
His bouts initially attracted sizeable pay-per-view audiences and many punters will hope the cash cow has cherry picked another beatable opponent.
However, the clamour for Paul to prove his credentials by taking on a bona fide boxer has come after a dip in interest.
Tommy Fury, brother of Tyson, was put forward as a credible rival but he pulled out due to visa complications regarding his camp.
Paul didn’t waste much time in switching his attention – and verbal insults – to his new foe.
“I’m ending the whole family legacy,” said the 25-year-old. “He’s going to get beat up by a singer, a musician, a sea shell collector, an amateur!
“He’s just another name on the list, a speed bump, a pawn in my game.”
However, Rahman did not look fazed at the press conference and countered: “Anybody can get to 5-0 by beating nobodies – you haven’t beaten anybody who had boxed before.”
The underdog looked in great shape and had a noticeable size advantage, so he is taken to prevail in our Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr betting tips.
There is always the chance of Paul being favoured by the judges, though, so 2.62 for Rahman with a draw as no bet could be a sensible option.
Hasim Rahman Jr Odds
Rahman was born to be a boxer, with his dad having famously upset Lennox Lewis, as well as taking on Evander Holyfield and Wladimir Klitschko.
Nicknamed Gold Blooded, the 6ft 3in athlete is one of 12 siblings, including fellow fighter Sharif.
He rattled off 12 straight wins at the start of his pro career, six by knockout, before losing his last bout in April.
That was against the unbeaten Kenzie Morrison, son of another ex-world champ Tommy, with the USA-USNBC heavyweight belt on the line.
Rahman was ahead on points after four rounds, boxing nicely behind a solid jab and showing decent hand speed.
However, he was caught cold by a flash knockdown in the fifth and failed to recover, being stopped soon after the restart.
There was still enough evidence to suggest Rahman is a legitimate fighter and good enough to end Paul’s charade.
His father said: “Jake is a real fighter and we respect that, but I just think he is moving too quick. I think he’s picked the wrong guy at the wrong time.”
A lack of concussive punching power against a game opponent may see this go the distance, but Rahman gets our vote.
Let’s go with him to prevail on points in our final Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr prediction.
