With both teams already eliminated from the post-season with 10 games to go, this will have a focus on the future.
Ottawa have suffered three successive defeats while the Red Wings have lost seven of their last nine, including back-to-back reverses to the Senators on April 1 and 3.
It will need overtime to separate these two at 4.10 in the first of our Detroit Red Wings vs Ottawa Senators predictions.

Detroit Red Wings Odds
Coach Jeff Blashill has been disappointed with the Red Wings slump after a promising run.
They sit 11th in the Eastern Conference but 24 points adrift of the Washington Capitals for the final play-off spot, it is now only pride left to play for.
“I thought we really surprised a lot of people with how well we played until these last few weeks,” Blashill said.
“We obviously haven’t been very good in this last stretch.”
With little on the line, both teams can try and find their offence and both teams to score three or more goals is 2.70 in the NHL odds.
Ottawa Senators Odds
Forward Tim Stutzle returned after a two-game absence in the 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets following a knee injury and admitted he is still hampered by the issue.
Stutzle had a career-high seven shots against the Jets and added an assist on a Brady Tkachuk goal and will hope for a positive end to the campaign before turning attention to next season.
He said: “I still feel it. It’s not something that goes away in two or three days.
“It’s always helps when you get going and then maybe you don’t think as much as you should about it.”
Stutzle’s 44 points has him third in Senators scoring and he can help Ottawa start strong and win the first period at 2.85 as we complete our NHL predictions.
