We’ve got three UFC Paris predictions for Saturday’s exciting card at Accor Arena and are chasing a 3.25 parlay with our French fancies.
Bwin already have UFC 279 odds available, including Khamzat Chimaev vs Nate Diaz, but we’re sticking with this weekend’s action first.
Ciryl Gane to beat Tai Tuivasa @ 1.18
Former interim heavyweight champion Gane suffered his first defeat in eight bouts under the UFC umbrella when outpointed by Francis Ngannou in Anaheim in January but is expected to get back on track on home turf.
Bon Gamin had previously accounted for the likes of Junior Dos Santos, Alexander Volkov and Derrick Lewis, generally dominating his opponents with great power and some clinical finishes, so he certainly deserves another chance.
Aussie Tuivasa can’t be taken lightly as he is on a five-fight hot streak, featuring a hat-trick of performance of the night awards.
However, he had previously suffered three straight defeats, including being stopped by Dos Santos, and may again have his limitations exposed now stepping back up in class.
Robert Whittaker to beat Marvin Vettori @ 1.44
Whittaker has won 12 of his last 14 fights, only coming up short in two clashes with outstanding middleweight title holder Israel Adesanya.
Having gone down to a second-round knockout in October 2019, Bobby Knuckles gave The Last Stylebender a much tougher work-out when taking him the distance in February and deserves plenty of credit for that display, despite losing via a unanimous decision.
Vettori has similar credentials, posting six wins and a couple of defeats by Adesanya in his last eight outings, but we just fear the Italian Dream will be outworked by Sydney-based Kiwi Whittaker.
Alessio Di Chirico to beat Roman Kopylov @ 1.91
This promises to be an explosive contest between two fighters who can ill-afford another defeat after recent setbacks.
Di Chirico put a run of three consecutive defeats behind him when a first-round head kick accounted for Joaquin Buckley but then fell to a similar blow versus Abdul Razak Alhassan, getting caught cold after just 17 seconds.
Kopylov won his first eight MMA bouts but has since suffered back-to-back reversals and is yet to taste victory at this level.
The 31-year-old is noted for his striking ability but Di Chirico has the stronger pedigree and is rated a percentage pick in our UFC Paris predictions as long as he is fully recovered mentally from that flash knockdown 12 months ago.
