With bwin offering each-way odds to eight places, we’re going for a bit of value with our Scottish Open tips.
Jon Rahm heads the betting after giving us a 9/1 pay-out via his US Open success, but let’s take a punt on this trio of longer-priced hopefuls.
BERND WIESBERGER @ 33/1
The Austrian recently claimed an eighth European Tour title at the Made In Denmark event, where he romped to victory by five strokes. That was the second time he had topped the leaderboard in that tournament and Wiesberger followed up his 2019 success by going on to lift this trophy. Fifth place at the BMW International Open in Munich last time out was another solid effort and the 35-year-old ticks plenty of boxes to be there or thereabouts again.
BRANDON GRACE @ 33/1
Scotland has been a happy hunting ground for Grace in the past, as a former Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winner. The 33-year-old South African returns in fine spirits after finishing fourth at The Memorial and then tied for seventh at the US Open, where he shot a joint-best final round of 67. A PGA Tour winner this year at the Puerto Rico Open, thanks to another strong finish, he looks worth keeping on side at The Renaissance Club.
TYRRELL HATTON @ 18/1
The Englishman is a touch shorter price than we would have liked to finish off our Scottish Open predictions but has to enter calculations due to his past record on links courses. Back-to-back wins in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2016 and 2017 stand out on Hatton’s CV, plus he has also finished fifth and sixth from his last four attempts at Open glory. A missed cut at the US Open was disappointing, but he had been second in the Palmetto Championship in South Carolina the previous week.
