Australian Basketball Championship

The National Basketball League, or NBL, is the premier basketball competition in Australia and is considered to be the best basketball competition in the southern hemisphere, composed of teams from both Australia and New Zealand. One franchise that no longer exists was based in Singapore. The basketball teams that comprise this professional league are there because they bought a franchise. Make basketball bets on our online betting platform.

Basketball betting in Australia

Basketball is the sport of choice for the over 1.3 million Australians who play it and it has made its way into the top 10 favourite sports in Australia. It is now one of the most popular team sports for men and women in the country and is played by large numbers. The sport's popularity helped the Australian national team to finish fourth in the 2019 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.

Betting on the NBL

The NBL is made up of about ten franchises that are based mostly in Australia, plus one franchise in New Zealand. For NBA betting, the season lasts only seven months and runs from October to May. Each franchise plays about 30 games with games almost every day of the week, amounting to 140 games over the entire regular season.

The top six teams in the regular season play post-season games. Teams ranked three through to six compete in playoff games, while the top two teams advance directly to the best-of-three and then best-of-five semifinals for the NBL championship.

With a recent lucrative television deal and a flood of new sponsors, the profile of the NBL is on the rise. In addition, the arrival of a third foreign player per club has made Australia an even more desirable place for many fringe NBA players.

Recommended betting in the NBL

A draw is not possible in basketball, so we recommend betting on the winner of the game. You back the one of the two teams you think will win the game.

Basketball is one of the most popular sports for live betting, as it mixes exciting, fast-paced games with dynamic results that offer bettors a variety of potential bets from which to choose.
