Canada’s Brooke Henderson is an odds-on favourite heading into the final round of the Amundi Evian Championship.
The 24-year-old is quoted at 1.44 to secure her second Major success after shooting a three-under-par 68 on Saturday to establish a two-shot lead.
Henderson, who led by three at halfway, recovered from a bogey on the first hole at the Evian Resort Golf Club with four birdies to move to 17 under par.
“It wasn’t as good as the first two days, but I really hung in there,” the Ontario ace told the LPGA website. “Made some clutch par saves on the back nine, which felt nice.
“Not as many birdies on the card. Felt like the course is playing a little bit tougher for me today.
“Hopefully go out tomorrow and continue to ball strike pretty well and hopefully make some putts.”
South Korea’s Ryu So-yeon (5.5) climbed into outright second place on 15 under after signing for a 65 that included eight birdies and two bogeys.
“I haven’t played really well and then I haven’t been in contention for maybe over a year, so I’m really excited to be in this position,” said Ryu.
“At the same time, I’m a little bit nervous. But all I can do is focus on what I can do. I’m just going to do some putting work and then hopefully I can play well tomorrow as well.”
American Sophia Schubert (34.0) was third on 13 under after a 66, with Spain’s Carlota Ciganda (26.0) and another Korean, Kim Sei-young (21.0), a stroke further back.
England’s Charley Hull (51.0) was among a group of five players tied for sixth on 11 under that also included world number one Ko Jin-young (29.0) and Nelly Korda (23.0).
Hull holed five birdies and an eagle in her 67 but suffered a double bogey on the sixth and dropped another shot on the 17th.
