Arena: Rogers Arena

Vancouver and St Louis do battle again just two days after the Blues enjoyed a convincing 4-1 victory at Enterprise Center.

Craig Berube’s side also prevailed 3-1 when these teams met in Canada a couple of months ago and are now eight points clear of the Canucks, having played three games fewer.

We’re happy to take 1.95 on the money line for them to come out on top again in our Vancouver Canucks vs St Louis Blues predictions.

Vancouver Canucks Odds

Vancouver were on a strong 6-3-3 stretch prior to Monday’s encounter but struggled to match St Louis.

“I don’t think we were very good,” admitted coach Bruce Boudreau. “We were really flat in the first period.

“We got behind by two. That gave them life. We played better in the second period but we didn’t get rewarded for it.

“When they score on the first shift of the third period, that was it.

“We didn’t have enough guys play with a sense of urgency that you need at this time of the season. I just didn’t think we were in it at all.”

Getting back on home ice should help the Canucks to be more competitive, but it just feels like the Blues have their number this term.

Looking at the NHL odds, we’re going with 4.1 for St Louis to win in regular time and both teams to score at least twice.

St Louis Blues Odds

St Louis had suffered a slightly worrying dip in form this month, going 3-6-3 through a dozen matches before hosting Vancouver.

However, the Blues stepped up a gear to strengthen their playoffs prospects at just the right time.

Russian winger Vladimir Tarasenko registered two goals and an assist to reach 500 NHL points for the franchise.

“If you score first in the game, you’ve got a good feel going, you feed off that,” Berube said. “It was nice getting that 2-0 lead.”

Finnish goalie Ville Husso had to be on form in the second period, making 17 saves in the middle section.

He added: “As a goalie, you want to make those saves and help the team at good times.

“I made a couple in the second period and kept the game at 2-0, and then we score right away in third. That was like pretty much game over.”

St Louis are more than capable of performing in big games on the road, winning 5-2 at Washington and 7-4 at Nashville this month after going 4-0-1 away in February.

Let’s add 8.0 for the Blues to oblige by two goals to our NHL predictions.
