Face-off: 2200 ET, 09/12/2021
Venue: Climate Pledge Arena
Seattle have shown some promise of late but are predictably still prone to the occasional off night and Winnipeg are rated a percentage pick.
The Jets went through a sticky spell last month but recent results have been more reliable and they boast two useful goaltenders.
We’re happy to go with an away win at 1.91 on the money line in our Seattle Kraken vs Winnipeg Jets predictions.
Seattle Kraken Odds
A run of five wins in seven outings put Seattle fans in an upbeat mood ahead of hosting Pittsburgh but the Penguins burst their bubble via a 6-1 rout.
Head coach Dave Hakstol admitted the Kraken slipped away from their usual gameplan and allowed themselves to be outworked that night.
Being without captain Mark Giordano due to Covid issues and Calle Jarnkrok through injury didn’t help.
More worrying, though, was the performance of number one goalie Philipp Grubauer, who allowed three goals on four shots before being replaced by Joey Daccord.
Hakstol fumed: “I won’t even speak to one individual’s performance. That was indicative of the start from our team.
“It’s disappointing to come off arguably our most complete game with that type of a start.
“We’ll go to work and we’ll work hard and practice. Turn the page by doing it that way.”
There are just too many ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ hanging over Seattle heading into this contest for our liking, though.
Looking at the 4.0 for an away win and under 5.5 goals.
Winnipeg Jets Odds
Winnipeg will be hoping to bounce back from a 4-2 home defeat by Carolina at Canada Life Centre, which completed a 2-2-0 homestand.
Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck described that stretch as “a roller coaster” but feels the recent positives still outweigh the negatives.
He commented: “We played some good hockey. We can’t let this beat us up.
“It’s still a long season ahead of us. We have to keep growing and building our game and building our details.”
The Jets had previously netted 14 times in impressive victories over Toronto and New Jersey.
A moderate away record of 3-5-3 is a concern, but high-flying Calgary were beaten 4-2 on their last road trip.
Mark Scheifele has hit a rich vein of form with seven points in three outings, so the big hitters will be lumping on him to add at least one more here at 1.53.
For those wanting a bigger pay-out, we’ll try 11.0 for the visitors to prevail 3-2 in our NHL predictions.
SEATTLE 1-6 Pittsburgh
WINNIPEG 2-4 Carolina
