New York Islanders only have a slim chance of securing a wildcard spot for the playoffs but will aim to keep their hopes alive by beating Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens, already out of postseason contention, have lost three on the spin while the Islanders are 15 points adrift of a playoffs place with nine games remaining.
The Islanders are the more desperate team and also have a bit of form behind them so an away win at 2.00 kicks off our Montreal Canadiens vs New York Islanders predictions.

Montreal Canadiens Odds
The Canadiens went down to a third successive defeat when losing 5-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Wednesday.
The Habs are now 12-13-4 since Martin St Louis took over from Dominque Ducharme as coach in early February.
St Louis, whose side are rooted to the bottom of the Atlantic Division with a 20-43-11 record, admitted: “I think this team is mentally tired. I get it.
“They’ve had a tough season and then coaches change and I’m asking a lot of them, implementing so many things.
“So, there’s a lot going on for them in terms of handling all that mentally.”
The series is tied at 1-1 this season but the most goals were scored in the second period in both games and it is 2.60 for that to happen again in NHL odds.
New York Islanders Odds
New York Islanders (34-30-9) have now lost three of their last five games as inconsistency continues to hamper a playoffs push.
They went down 6-3 to the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Thursday having beaten them after overtime on home ice two days earlier.
Zdeno Chara, who was 45 last month, scored his first goal in 109 games in the loss to the Penguins.
He said: “I’m not going to lie, it’s always nice to score a goal in the National Hockey League.
“Obviously, I had way too many opportunities where I kind of hit a crossbar or post this season. It finally went in, (it’s) just too bad it wasn’t earlier or a better time in the game.
“Hopefully, the next one is going to help us win a hockey game.”
The Islanders won 6-2 on their last visit in November and another win and over 4.5 goals at 2.05 completes our Montreal Canadiens vs New York Islanders predictions.
