Carolina are four points clear in the Metropolitan Division after beating Columbus 4-0 on Friday and have four games in hand of second-placed Pittsburgh.
The Blue Jackets arrived at PNC Arena on a four-game unbeaten run but Nino Niederreiter had a goal and an assist as they were blown away by the Hurricanes.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour said: “We know that they were flat, so we took advantage of it. You have to do that. We played a solid game the whole game.”
Just like Edmonton, Columbus were coming off a triumph at Florida 24 hours earlier, so Carolina will be hoping for a similar scenario here.

Edmonton showed great spirit to bounce back from a couple of defeats by edging out Florida 4-3, with Derek Ryan scoring his first NHL hat-trick.
Leon Draisaitl also netted and Connor McDavid had two assists as the Oilers improved to 6-2-0 under new boss Dave Tippett.
Ryan said: “It’s a big win on the road and getting my first hat-trick in the NHL at the ripe age of 35 feels pretty good.”
However, Edmonton were grateful for some superb stops from Mikko Koskinen, who made 44 saves against the Panthers.
An upper-boddy injury to Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a blow and this may just prove a bridge too far on Edmonton’s tough road trip.
