Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers predictions

Face-off: 2000 ET, 03/04/2022

Arena: Honda Center

Edmonton have beaten Anaheim twice already this season and are rated worthy favourites to complete the hat-trick at Honda Center.

Admittedly, the earlier encounters were in Canada and both were high-scoring affairs, with the Oilers prevailing 6-5 in October and 7-3 in February.

However, we’re sticking with the same side to win again and over 5.5 goals in the game at 2.25 in our Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers predictions.

Anaheim Ducks Odds

Anaheim received a welcome boost when romping to a 5-0 triumph at Arizona on Friday, with a lacrosse-style strike from Trevor Zegras the highlight.

Isac Lundestrom registered two goals and an assist, while Anthony Stolarz made 22 saves for his third shutout of the season.

“We got pucks deep, played a simple game and did a good job of creating chances,” commented Stolarz.

“We haven’t been doing that lately, but we kind of wore them down.”

Arizona are officially the league’s worst team this term, though, and the Ducks had previously gone 11 games without a win, so we’re not getting carried away with one success.

Anaheim should be more confident going forward following that big win, but we still prefer Edmonton’s credentials.

Looking at the NHL odds, let’s go with 2.9 for the Oilers to oblige in regular time and both teams to score at least twice.

Edmonton Oilers Odds

Edmonton are nicely placed in third in the Pacific Division after edging out St Louis 6-5 in overtime to complete a trio of home victories.

“We’re in a battle and have been playing playoff-style hockey now for a while,” declared winger Zach Hyman.

“St Louis have won a cup, they’re a veteran team, they play hard and they play that playoff-style hockey.

“Those are games that are good for us and games that we have to find ways to win. Playoffs are around the corner, so we have to be ready for it.”

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to pile up the points but the Oilers do now have to show they can also perform on the road.

They have gone five away games without a win, so embarking on a three-match trip gives cause for concern.

However, all but one of those recent reversals have come against teams on course to reach the playoffs, so travelling to 22nd-ranked Anaheim and then San Jose (rated 23rd) looks less daunting.

The Ducks don’t take many hammerings at home and this won’t be easy, but 12.0 for Edmonton to win 4-3 completes our NHL predictions.
