Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes predictions

Face-off: 2130 ET, 28/03/2022

Arena: Rogers Place

Edmonton have suffered from travel sickness of late but their recent home form is outstanding and they are taken to brush aside Arizona.

The Coyotes haven’t thrown in the towel but the end of a disappointing campaign probably can’t come quick enough after five games without a win.

We like 4.0 for a home victory by exactly three goals in our Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes predictions.

Edmonton Oilers Odds

Edmonton are 0-3-2 from their last five road trips following Saturday’s wild 9-5 defeat at Calgary.

Head coach Jay Woodcroft moaned: “I thought we’d spent the last five weeks or so trying to improve certain areas of our game, but I thought we got away from it and paid the price. That stings.

“We came into the Saddledome and scored five goals – that should be enough to win a game. But it wasn’t about what we got, it was what we gave them.”

However, the Oilers are still in the top three of the Pacific Division thanks to six straight wins at Rogers Place and this match begins another three-match homestand.

Leon Draisaitl, who hit a hat-trick in vain versus the Flames, said of that setback: “You just flush it.

“You take the negatives out of it. Not too many positives, so I guess park it and move on. We have to make sure we respond on Monday.”

Edmonton have already beaten the Coyotes 5-3 and 5-1 in Arizona this term, so 2.25 for them to score more than 4.5 goals here stands out from the NHL odds.

That bet would have come in for the Oilers’ last four home fixtures!

Arizona Coyotes Odds

Arizona have slipped to the foot of the overall league table, just behind Seattle and Montreal, and face a tough test trying to back-up after last night’s loss at Winnipeg.

Karel Vejmelka made 38 saves to earn the Coyotes a 1-1 draw after 60 minutes but Mark Scheifele scored with 9.7 seconds remaining in overtime to settle the issue.

Coach Andre Tourigny said of his goalie: “I see what I see most nights, he was really good. He was rock-solid, gave us a chance to win.”

Tourigny added: “You want to be a proud team, a proud organisation who fights every game and makes it really tough on your opponent.

“We don’t have the same opportunity as them in the sense that we know we won’t be in the playoffs.

“But at the same time, we want to fight with the same urgency, the same determination, the same pride, and we did it.”

A quick turnaround after such a tiring loss will make things even harder here, though, especially as they only have new recruits to fill in for Vejmelka if required.

Arizona are expected to be on the back foot from the outset, so 1.91 for Edmonton to lead after the first period is added to our NHL predictions.
