Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks predictions

Face-off: 2200 ET, 19/02/2022

Arena: Rogers Arena

Vancouver can close in on Anaheim in the race for Western Conference wild card spots when they meet for the fourth time this season.

The Canucks won the last encounter at the end of December and are currently just three points behind the Ducks with a game in hand.

Recent form suggests that gap will be reduced further here and 1.95 for a home win in regular time kicks off our Vancouver Canucks vs Anaheim Ducks predictions.

Vancouver Canucks Odds

Vancouver are 3-1 since the All-Star break after claiming a couple of hard-fought victories over the past week.

The Canucks edged out a red-hot Toronto outfit 3-2 at this venue and then won 5-4 in overtime on the road in San Jose.

After conceding an equaliser in the final second of regulation play, Vancouver rallied versus the Sharks via a JT Miller decider.

“To give it up with less than a second left was pretty upsetting, but we got the two points,” said coach Bruce Boudreau.

“I don’t know if we deserved it, but sometimes those are the games you need to get a jump-start.”

Forward Conor Garland added: “We didn’t have our A-game, but fortunate to grind out a win.”

On a positive note, Quinn Hughes had a goal and an assist on his return from Covid protocols.

Two of the three matches between these teams have also gone to overtime but we’re backing the Canucks to shade it by one in regulation on this occasion at 7.25 from the NHL odds.

Anaheim Ducks Odds

Anaheim have suffered a trio of defeats since the All-Star game, conceding 17 goals in the process.

The Ducks were competitive in a 4-3 home loss to Seattle but then went down 6-2 at Calgary and 7-3 at Edmonton.

Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano each had a goal and assist against the Oilers but an early 2-0 lead was wiped out in emphatic fashion.

“We were simply outmatched,” admitted coach Dallas Eakins. “We’re coming on a back to back and we were not prepared depth-wise to take on a team like that.”

However, Anaheim should have captain Ryan Getzlaf back in action here and Eakins will urge his team to keep things tighter in defence.

That could make for a cagey contest but we’re sticking with Vancouver to prevail 3-2 at 10.0.
