Rangers made an impressive start to their Europa League campaign but head to Switzerland as underdogs to make it two wins out of two.
A 1-0 victory at home to Feyenoord has boosted their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage and Steven Gerrard’s men are 53/20 to win Group G, with Porto the odds-on favourites.
It is a tricky fixture but we think they can return to Glasgow with some reward so a draw or an away win in the double chance market is our opening Young Boys vs Rangers prediction at 17/20.
A Look At Young Boys’ Betting Odds
Young Boys qualified for the group stage of the Champions League for the first time last season but finished bottom of Group H.
They lost both home and away to Manchester United without scoring but at least ended on a high with a surprise 2-1 win against group winners Juventus.
They went out on the away-goals rule in qualifying this season to Red Star Belgrade after a 1-1 draw in the second leg, having drawn 1-1 at home.
Their next three matches in the Swiss League were all score draws too so while scoring goals does not appear to be a problem, there are clearly issues in defence.
A 2-1 defeat against Porto in Portugal was no disgrace but it means they will need to go on the offensive here and that could leave gaps at the back for Rangers to exploit.
With that in mind, a score draw appeals at 17/5 in the Young Boys vs Rangers odds.
A Look At Rangers’ Betting Odds
There was only one goal in Rangers’ opening group match but the game was much more open than the result suggested.
Sheyi Ojo produced a moment of magic to score the only goal when he fired in a glorious drive from 20 yards in the 24th minute but Rangers had already wasted a penalty when skipper James Tavernier struck the outside of the post.
Feyenoord threatened in a more even second half and might have snatched a point, with Allan McGregor called upon to make several good saves, although the home side had chances to score more.
Gerrard said: “I thought my players were outstanding, especially the first half.
“We carried the game plan out really well, to be aggressive, press on the front foot and try to take them to a place they are not used to going from a domestic point of view. I was slightly disappointed not to go in at the break further in front.
“Feyenoord improved in the second half but over the course of the 90 minutes I don’t think anyone can take the three points away from us, we deserved it.”
Let’s take a punt on a 2-2 draw at 13/1 as the last of our Young Boys vs Rangers betting tips in a repeat of the score when these teams last met back in 1977!
