Kick Off: 1700, 05/06/2018

Stadium: VTB-Arena

Russia could do with a morale boost ahead of their World Cup campaign and are fancied to edge out Turkey in Tuesday’s Moscow international friendly.

The hosts have gone six games without a win but their desire and hunger to hit form before facing Saudi Arabia a week on Thursday can prove decisive here.

We’re kicking off our Russia vs Turkey betting tips by taking Evens for a home win at VTB-Arena.

A Look At Russia’s Betting Odds

Russia will have been disappointed with a 1-0 loss to Austria in Innsbruck last time out, but the victors have since franked the form by beating Germany too.

Previous defeats against Brazil and France are easy to forgive and we’re hoping Stanislav Cherchesov’s side can now rediscover the sparkle of November’s 3-3 draw with Spain.

Fyodor Smolov bagged a brace in that St Petersburg clash and also had the best chance versus Austria.

The 28-year-old hit 14 goals for Krasnodar in his country’s top flight last term and is clearly a player to watch out for.

Yuri Zhirkov, Alan Dzagoev and Aleksandr Samedov can all provide creativity from midfield.

Looking at the Russia vs Turkey odds, the World Cup hosts started with a high-pressing game against Austria and similar tactics can help them to lead at half-time and full-time at 23/10.

A Look At Turkey’s Betting Odds

Turkey were far from disgraced in their World Cup qualifying group but eventually had to settle for fourth place behind Iceland, Croatia and Ukraine.

Taking four points off Croatia showed there is ability in this team, yet losing 2-0 and 3-0 to Iceland highlighted problems with consistency.

Mircea Lucescu will be happy with his side’s efforts going forward in recent friendlies, with nine goals scored in five games, including a 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in March.

However, they still managed to lose 3-2 at home to Albania and needed a last-minute equaliser to draw 2-2 with Tunisia on Friday.

Those defensive frailties make 18/5 for a home win and both teams to score worth adding to our Russia vs Turkey betting predictions.

Additional stats

Last result:

Austria 1-0 RUSSIA

Tunisia 2-2 TURKEY – Cenk Tosun (pen), Caglar Soyuncu

Head-to-head: Turkey 0-0 Russia, Russia 1-0 Turkey, Turkey 0-1 Russia
