FC Copenhagen vs Man City prediction & odds

Kick-off: 1745, 11/10/2022

Stadium: Parken

TV: BT Sport

Manchester City put FC Copenhagen to the sword when prevailing 5-0 last week and it is hard to envisage a much different outcome in Denmark.

Pep Guardiola may make changes with one eye on Sunday’s big Premier League clash with Liverpool but the Blues have the strength in depth to cope.

Bwin are offering a tempting price boost of 11/10 from 11/20 for the visitors to win by three goals or more and that is our first FC Copenhagen vs Man City prediction.

FC Copenhagen Odds

Copenhagen had no answer to City’s attacking prowess at Etihad Stadium and were probably relieved to escape without losing more heavily.

The Group G outsiders had previously lost 3-0 away to Borussia Dortmund before drawing 0-0 with an out-of-sorts Sevilla at this venue.

Despite their longshot status, City showed few signs of complacency in yet another clinical success.

“It was an excellent result and a better performance,” beamed Guardiola. “People say, ‘It’s Copenhagen’ but they defended really well, but we play the movements with the ball and without the ball.

“We saw the reason for success for this club. After Man United, 6-3, there were a lot of compliments, but we are humble enough to respect the opponent Copenhagen.

“This is the secret of this team. The work ethic in training, everybody is focused, everybody pays attention.”

Copenhagen are only eighth of 12 in Denmark’s top flight this term after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Nordsjaelland here and simply look in too deep at this level.

Examining the FC Copenhagen vs Man City odds, we reckon 23/4 for a 3-0 away win is worth support.

Manchester City Odds

As stated above, Guardiola could shuffle his pack with Liverpool on the horizon, but five days between games is a decent buffer.

City made five changes from the Manchester derby when hosting the Danes but quickly asserted their authority on last week’s contest.

Aymeric Laporte made his first start of the season after injury, linking up with the returning Ruben Dias in defence, while Julian Alvarez, Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Gomez also came in.

Such was City’s dominance that Guardiola could withdraw Erling Haaland after a first-half double and introduce Cole Palmer.

“It is not about resting players,” Guardiola said. “It’s about a squad of 20 players, not just 11.

“This was the best selection to win the game because we need the players everywhere in this tight, tight schedule.”

Of course, Laporte, Dias and Mahrez are established internationals who cost a combined total of almost £180million, so it was hardly a gamble bringing them in.

Meanwhile, Alvarez did us a favour by scoring last in that game and the 11-times capped Argentina youngster impressed his boss.

“All of us, not just me, are incredibly happy with the goal he scored and the way he played,” beamed Guardiola.

“He’s a little bit behind for the highlights of Erling – that’s normal, Erling is something special – but he’s a guy we rely on incredibly, a lot.

“The way he has played since day one was magnificent and, against teams that play so tight, he helped us a lot to have an extra weapon close to the box with this sense of scoring a goal.”
