What Trueform says for Chelsea vs Malmo
Chelsea showed plenty of spirit to overcome a hostile atmosphere when winning 2-1 at Malmo in the first leg of their Europa League tie.
Maurizio Sarri was left frustrated by conceding a late goal in Sweden, though, and will call for a more clinical display on home turf.
We’re snapping up 3/4 for the Blues to win to nil in London as our opening Chelsea vs Malmo prediction.
A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds
Chelsea weren’t overly-convincing at Swedbank Stadion but it was a decent response to their embarrassing 6-0 mauling at Manchester City four days earlier.
Following a tentative start, goals from Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud put the Blues in full control of the tie.
Anders Christiansen’s strike 10 minutes from time gave Malmo some hope, but Sarri is determined to avoid any slip-ups in the return fixture.
The Italian said: “If we concede a goal like this to a team like Manchester City or United or Tottenham, then you risk conceding three goals in 10 minutes. So we have to do better.
“We need to have continuity and consistency in the mental condition to be able to approach every match with the same level of application, determination and attention.”
This match does come between two big domestic cup games against the Manchester giants, so we’re not expecting the Blues to run riot.
However, 21-4 for a solid 2-0 success this time does take the eye from the Chelsea vs Malmo odds.
A Look At Malmo’s Betting Odds
Head coach Uwe Rosler was content to see Malmo be competitive in the opening encounter, even if they couldn’t add to Christiansen’s strike in a feisty late rally.
The former Manchester City forward said: “The odds were against us in the beginning and are again now, but we rewarded ourselves for the way we played.”
Chelsea had 73 per cent of the possession in Sweden, but were restricted to just four shots on target, with the combative hosts committing 20 fouls.
“We’ve not shown any respect to Chelsea, especially in the beginning of the game,” Rosler added. “Chelsea didn’t have a single chance before they scored.
“I’m pleased with the way we approached the game, tactically and mentally. They showed us respect. They brought [N’Golo] Kante and [Eden] Hazard on. There’s a reason for that.”
If Rosler’s side can show the same resolve in London, 23/10 for them to be just 1-0 down at half-time again is worth adding to our Chelsea vs Malmo betting tips.
