Stadium: Johan Cruyff Arena

Ajax have a mountain to climb in their Europa League last-32 tie after putting in a lacklustre effort when beaten 2-0 by Getafe at Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The Spanish outfit enjoyed a bit of good fortune with a deflected second goal on the stroke of full-time, but were good value for their victory overall.

An away goal would make it incredibly difficult for the Dutch giants and 4/5 for both teams to score is our initial Ajax vs Getafe prediction.

A Look At Ajax’s Betting Odds

Ajax did not have a shot on target in the opening encounter and only registered their first attempt on goal in the 86th minute through Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Chelsea-bound winger Hakim Ziyech looked short of sharpness following recent injury problems, while the likes of Dusan Tadic and Donny van de Beek failed to get going.

Erik ten Hag’s side suffered another setback when losing 1-0 at Heracles on Sunday and only lead by three points at the Eredivisie summit ahead of facing second-placed AZ Alkmaar this weekend.

On the plus side, Ajax have won their last five matches at Johan Cruyff Arena by an aggregate score of 19-2, so all is not lost.

Looking at the Ajax vs Getafe odds, we like 27/10 for a home victory and both teams to score.

A Look At Getafe’s Betting Odds

Getafe had been in good form in La Liga prior to beating Ajax, rattling off four straight wins before a narrow 2-1 loss at Barcelona.

It was soon obvious that they were full of confidence and self-belief, as Jose Bordalas’ men harried and hustled their illustrious opponents from the outset.

Brazilian Deyverson, a recent loan signing, tested Bruno Varela from long range before finishing off a neat move in clinical fashion after a lovely lay-off by Mathias Olivera.

In the second half, Mauro Arambarri had a good chance saved before midfielder Kenedy, on loan from Chelsea, struck on the break when his shot ricocheted in off Lisandro Martinez.

Sunday’s 3-0 home loss to fellow domestic high-flyers Sevilla is a worry, but Getafe are still going well in fifth place in Spain’s top flight.

They have the counter-attacking ability to cause problems in Amsterdam, so we’re taking 333/100 for both teams to score in the first half to finish off our Ajax vs Getafe betting tips.
