High-flying France are fancied to end Netherlands’ reign as European champions in what promises to be a cracking Euro 2022 quarter-final.
Holders Holland won’t go down without a fight and impressed up front during the group stage, but Les Bleues have looked really exciting so far.
We reckon 3.25 for Corinne Diacre’s side to win and both teams to score is the way to go with our first France Women vs Netherlands Women prediction.
France Women Odds
France invariably reach the quarter-finals at major tournaments but have found getting further tough since finishing fourth at the 2011 World Cup.
However, they put an impressive winning run together ahead of this competition, including victories over Finland, Brazil and Netherlands at the Tournoi de France in February.
That momentum was maintained via a 5-1 thrashing of Italy in the opening round of Group D games, with Grace Geyoro hitting a hat-trick.
Belgium put up a spirited effort when beaten 2-1 but Les Bleues had numerous chances to increase their tally, including a penalty miss.
That allowed Diacre to ring the changes for Monday’s 1-1 draw with Iceland, with the coach commenting: “We wanted to win the group and we did that after two games.
“This evening, I was able to give playing time to other players, and that went very well.
“We have no new injuries, so we have 22 players available for the quarter-finals and that is important.”
Previously losing prolific striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto was a big blow, but Delphine Cascarino has really caught the eye and Wendie Renard continues to impress at the back.
All eight Les Bleues group goals came in the first half, but they only conceded once before the break.
Looking at the France Women vs Netherlands Women odds, we like 2.65 for Diacre’s side to lead at half-time and full-time.
Netherlands Women Odds
Netherlands blew everyone away on home turf five years ago, rattling off six straight wins, and again shone when runners-up to USA in the 2019 World Cup in France.
This time around, the Oranje are unbeaten but yet to really convince anyone that they will again go all the way.
To be fair, Holland battled back well to draw 1-1 with Sweden before shading Portugal 3-2 in an entertaining encounter.
Manager Mark Parsons then praised his team’s energy after a flurry of late goals helped them to see off Switzerland 4-1.
“This team is gaining energy,” he beamed. “We’re still not the best team, but we’re just trying to be good enough to beat the best teams and France is going to give us a good test.”
Parsons added: “France are a top opponent and so are we – they won’t want to play us. We’ve got a big recovery, we need to recharge.”
Losing inspirational head coach Sarina Wiegman to England was a blow, though, and the Dutch just don’t quite seem to have the same sparkle under Parsons.
Les Bleues won 3-1 when these sides met earlier this year and 12.5 for a repeat of that scoreline is added to our France Women vs Netherlands Women betting tips.
