Rangers were good value for their point when drawing 1-1 away to Porto in the Europa League and are fancied to come out on top in the return fixture.
Both teams are locked together on four points in what is proving a very tight pool, but home advantage has generally been the deciding factor in this section.
We’re happy to take 9/5 for that trend to continue in Glasgow for our initial Rangers vs Porto prediction.
A Look At Rangers’ Betting Odds
Rangers fell behind to a long-range opener from Luis Diaz in Portugal, but Alfredo Morelos replied a minute before the break after a brilliant low cross from Borna Barisic.
Morelos forced a stunning save from another excellent Barisic delivery just after the interval and Steven Gerrard’s side dominated possession for long spells in the second half, showing real confidence on the ball.
“I’m very proud of the players,” Gerrard said. “The performance was outstanding. We at least deserved to take a point.
“I thought our structure and organisation was brilliant, so I need to pay respect to all my staff, who have worked so hard to do that.
“But even more so to the players, because they have all maxed out, in and out of possession, and carried out the game plan really well.”
The Light Blues are clearly up for this competition and had previously beaten Feyenoord 1-0 at Ibrox, before only losing out to a stoppage-time sickener when going down 2-1 at Young Boys.
Gerrard stressed that “the home games will be very important” and 18/5 for his team to lead at half-time and full-time stands out from the Rangers vs Porto odds.
Ryan Kent believes Rangers have made massive strides since last season and no longer have any fear against top European sides.
He stated: “We have improved probably both mentally and – no discredit to the players who were here last season – the quality as well.
“There’s a lot more confidence, the hunger is there and just belief that we can achieve something this season.”
A Look At Porto’s Betting Odds
Porto manager Sergio Conceciao claimed his side had enough chances to prevail at Estadio do Dragao.
He stated: “We had enough situations to win the game, not in a fantastic performance, but we knew that against these teams the quality of the game is lost a lot and the fighting comes up.”
However, the Dragons only really threatened once in the second half, when Allan McGregor pulled off an excellent double save.
Porto lifted the trophy when last involved in this competition nine seasons ago, but the feeling is that last term’s Champions League quarter-finalists see it very much as a consolation prize this time around.
They managed to edge out Young Boys 2-1 on home turf on Matchday 1 but were then beaten 2-0 by Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
The visitors have the attacking talent to be a threat going forward, but we believe the Light Blues can outwork them in Glasgow and 19/2 for a 2-1 home win completes our Rangers vs Porto betting tips.
