Juventus had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the first leg but will be confident of completing the job when they host Villarreal with a place in the Champions League quarter-finals at stake.
Dusan Vlahovic scored inside the first minute of his Champions League debut for Juventus but Dani Parejo’s second-half equaliser boosted Villarreal’s chances.
The Italians are odds-on favourites to win the second leg though and we’re backing the home win at 1.83 for our first Juventus vs Villarreal prediction.
Juventus Odds
The first leg could not have started better for Juve or Vlahovic, who made his European bow for the club after his January move from Fiorentina and needed just 33 seconds to put the visitors ahead.
Vlahovic showed his quality straight away, seizing on a through ball from Danilo after Villarreal lost possession in midfield and guiding his shot inside the far post.
Juve were content to sit back and probe on the break from then on but their defence was breached in the 66th minute when former Watford man Etienne Capoue lifted a ball through to Parejo in the middle of the penalty area, and he exploited space to defeat Wojciech Szczesny.
Juventus have been in good form domestically recently and are on track for a top-four finish but they rarely blow teams away and have been held to draws by the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and Atalanta since the start of the year.
That suggests another close contest in the second leg and the hosts to win by exactly one goal could be worth the extra risk at 3.40 in the Juventus vs Villarreal odds.
Villarreal Odds
Villarreal will be disappointed not to have made better use of home advantage and know they head to Turin as the underdogs.
It could have got even worse for them in the first meeting when Vlahovic had the chance to add to his early strike but after running onto a pass from Alvaro Morata, this time his shot was saved by Geronimo Rulli.
Capoue said: “It’s a bit of frustration as we need to win these games at home, but we played a good game.
“It’s really tough to score against a side like Juventus, but we did that and we believe we can go through. It’ll be tough, but we can do it.”
The likely absence of striker Gerard Moreno makes their task even harder and for the last of our Juventus vs Villarreal betting tips, we’re taking 6.25 for a 1-0 home win.
