RB Salzburg and Chelsea both have a chance of progressing to the Champions League round of 16 when they meet in Austria on matchday five.
Chelsea lead Group E by a point over Salzburg following back-to-back wins over AC Milan while the Austrians are the only unbeaten side in the group, drawing three of their four matches.
A win will see Chelsea advance and although momentum is on their side, we are settling for a draw at 29/10 as our opening RB Salzburg vs Chelsea prediction.
RB Salzburg Odds
Salzburg will go through to the round of 16 if they win and AC Milan fail to beat Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.
After successive 1-1 draws at home to AC Milan and at Chelsea, Salzburg claimed their first win when prevailing 1-0 against Dinamo Zagreb at Stadion Salzburg.
A further 1-1 draw in Zagreb saw Salzburg lose top spot but they are still in a great position to qualify for the knockout stages for the second season on the trot.
Coach Matthias Jaissle told Sky Austria: “We are marching again with the youngest squad through Europe and haven’t lost a game so far – we have to remind the guys again of this fact.”
While Salzburg have not lost any of their previous seven home games in Europe (W5 D2), they have not scored more than once in the last four.
Six of their last 10 matches in all competitions this season have ended in a draw, five of them ending 1-1, so looking at the 13/2 has obvious appeal.
Graham Potter has made an impressive start at Chelsea since taking over from Thomas Tuchel and is unbeaten in eight matches in total.
His first game came against Salzburg at Stamford Bridge which ended 1-1 before overseeing five successive wins in all competitions, including an impressive double over AC Milan.
A goalless draw at Brentford followed before being held 1-1 by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, the visitors levelling deep into stoppage time.
Chelsea will advance with a win or if they secure a point and AC Milan beat Dinamo Zagreb. Top spot will be confirmed with a victory and the Croatians failing to take three points.
The Blues have scored first in six of Potter’s eight games in charge and 11/20 they do so again rounds off our RB Salzburg vs Chelsea predictions.
CHELSEA 1-1 Manchester United – Jorginho (penalty)
RB SALZBURG 0-0 Sturm Graz
