World Cup price boosts

Kick-off: 1000, 28/11/2022

Stadium: Al Janoub Stadium

TV: ITV

Cameroon and Serbia will both look to bounce back from opening defeats in Group G and we reckon the Eagles are better equipped to do that.

The European outfit can be forgiven for finding Brazil too strong and had impressed in qualifying, when topping a pool featuring Portugal.

Dragan Stojkovic’s side will kick off many Monday accumulators and 77/100 for them to prevail is our first Cameroon vs Serbia prediction.

Cameroon Odds

The Indomitable Lions had a nervy qualification campaign, which culminated with former Liverpool defender Rigobert Song in charge after a March appointment.

Cameroon had beaten Ivory Coast 1-0 in their final winner-takes-all group game and then needed the away goals rule to squeeze past Algeria in a play-off under Song.

They had the upper hand in the first half of their Qatar 2022 opener, but Switzerland started the second period well and Breece Embolo’s 48th-minute goal ultimately proved decisive.

Song felt his team had been punished for not being clinical enough, with Karl Toko Ekambi and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting guilty of wasting good openings.

“Generally in football, when you’re dominating you need to hit the net,” said the manager.

“Yes, we had more opportunities than they did (in the first half) but we didn’t have that finishing touch. That was what made the difference.

“We showed we were hungry for that win but the goal simply didn’t come. You can monopolise ball possession, it’s taking chances that counts.”

The defeat meant Cameroon have now lost eight consecutive World Cup finals matches and past history suggests they fall away once up against it.

Eight years ago, the Indomitable Lions went down 1-0 to Mexico before conceding four times versus both Croatia and Brazil.

Looking at the Cameroon vs Serbia odds, we feel 19/10 for the Eagles to win by more than one clear goal is good value.

Serbia Odds

Serbia contained Brazil in a cagey first half but had no answer to the Selecao’s attacking prowess once they found an extra gear after the interval.

Stojkovic commented: “I think we were on an equal level in the first 45 minutes, I didn’t see they were much more dominant at that stage.

“But in the second half, we fell physically and we were no longer a team. And of course Brazil knew how to take advantage of this because they have excellent players.”

The Eagles have done enough over the past few years to suggest they are worth sticking with, though.

In qualifying, they came from behind to beat Portugal 2-1 in Lisbon in the final round of fixtures to make it six wins and two draws from eight outings.

Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic took his tally to eight goals in that pool by netting a stoppage-time decider after Ajax playmaker Dusan Tadic had levelled things up.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Juventus front man Dusan Vlahovic and Luka Jovic of Fiorentina are other familiar faces in a squad which has been on an upward curve for some time.

Serbia have won C and B-level Nations League groups since that competition was introduced and will perform at the highest grade next time.

Mitrovic will be the target man once more here and 7/2 for him to score first in an Eagles victory is added to our Cameroon vs Serbia betting tips.

For those eyeing a bigger pay-out, 13/1 for a 3-1 correct score catches the eye.
