Real Madrid and Barcelona both had tough Champions League matches in midweek and Sunday’s first El Clasico of the season could also be close.

The Whites snatched a last-gasp draw against Shakhtar in Warsaw, while Barca also netted in stoppage time to share the spoils with Inter Milan at Camp Nou.

We think 13/5 for another stalemate at the Santiago Bernabeu is good value for our initial Real Madrid vs Barcelona prediction.

Real Madrid Odds

Real got off to a flying start with nine straight wins this term, beginning with a UEFA Super Cup success versus Eintracht Frankfurt and ending with a derby win at Atletico.

However, since returning from the international break, their performances have just dropped off a bit.

A 1-1 home draw with Osasuna was followed by narrow victories over Shakhtar and Getafe, before another stalemate on Tuesday night.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side went behind just 35 seconds into the second half in Poland and Shakhtar almost struck again when hitting the bar.

It took until the 95th minute for Real to draw level, when a hopeful ball into the box by Toni Kroos was headed in by Antonio Rudiger.

Kroos commented: “I told Antonio to go up front because we were having a hard time creating chances.

“There were a few minutes left and different things had to be tried. Rudiger is very strong in the box and of course he helped us.”

Ancelotti added: “We haven’t played well but this team never gives up. We qualified for the round of 16 on a night that looked bad and that’s a good thing.”

This promises to be another fierce battle and it would be no surprise to see more late drama.

Looking at the 31/20 for both teams to score in the second half.

Barcelona Odds

Barcelona are just above Real in La Liga on goal difference after posting seven straight wins since an opening draw with Rayo Vallecano.

However, they are in danger of making an early exit from the Champions League, which would be a big blow to their fragile finances.

The Blaugrana kicked off their European campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of Viktoria Plzen but then lost away to Bayern Munich and Inter.

Wednesday’s return fixture with the Nerazzurri proved a rollercoaster ride of emotions after Ousmane Dembele put Barca in front just before the break.

Inter hit back through Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez before Robert Lewandowski levelled things up on 82 minutes.

Robin Gosens thought he had snatched a late decider for the visitors but Lewandowski came to the rescue with a bullet header in time added on.

Even then, it took a wonder save from Marc-Andre ter Stegen to deny Kristjan Asllani on the break and keep Barca’s slim hopes of qualifying alive.

“We committed errors the like of which you can’t afford in this competition,” admitted Xavi. “Now we have to rely on faith and character and pick ourselves up again.

“We haven’t shown the best version of ourselves in this competition but we still have the league, the cup and the Super Cup to play for domestically and the season is long.”

Barca have recruited well up front but look old at the bag and their lack of pace will continue to cause problems.

This could be another end-to-end thriller and 10/1 for a 2-2 draw completes our Real Madrid vs Barcelona betting tips.
