Kick-off: 1945, 02/03/2019
Stadium: Santiago Bernabeu
We were firmly behind Barcelona for Wednesday’s 3-0 Copa del Rey win over Real Madrid and see no reason to change tack for Saturday’s La Liga El Clasico.
The Catalan giants created fewer chances in midweek but were much more clinical up front and that can help to see them through again here.
Let’s stick with the visitors to prevail once more at 7/5 for our opening Real Madrid vs Barcelona prediction.
A Look At Real Madrid’s Betting Odds
To be fair, Real were the better team in a goalless first half and had 14 attempts on goal, compared to Barca’s four, over the full 90 minutes.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen was forced to make fine saves from eye-catching teenager Vinicius, fellow youngster Sergio Reguilon and Dani Alves.
Santiago Solari told the club website: “After all of our efforts and having fought until the final whistle, having made chances and dominating for so long in the game, this result really hurts.
“We went out with our heads held high but we are not happy about it, we are now focusing our energy on our next clash with Barcelona.”
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro added: “That is how football goes. If you don’t take the game to a big team like them, they will cause you trouble at the back.”
The Whites did show enough to suggest they can get on the scoresheet themselves this time, but we still prefer Barca, who have now won on four of their last five trips to the Bernabeu.
Looking at the Real Madrid vs Barcelona odds, there is plenty of appeal in 13/5 for an away win and both teams to score.
Last Real Madrid line-up: Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Reguilon, Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Vazquez, Benzema, Vinicius.
A Look At Barcelona’s Betting Odds
Barcelona seemed to benefit from last Saturday’s 4-2 romp at Sevilla as they again had their shooting boots on at the Bernabeu.
Ernesto Valverde admits he will be looking for a more “well-rounded” performance in the quick rematch.
He told Marca: “They were better in the first half and we lacked offensive intent, which we can’t do. We lost the ball in bad areas and it could have cost us a goal.”
However, Luis Suarez turned things around with a double strike either side of Raphael Varane’s own goal.
Valverde added of the Uruguay hitman: “He is a goalscorer who is always there. He’s aggressive and ambitious, always seeking the goal and was very impressive again.”
Suarez hit a hat-trick when Barca thrashed Real 5-1 at Camp Nou in La Liga towards the end of October and clearly has an appetite to do well in this fixture.
Let’s finish off our Real Madrid vs Barcelona betting tips by taking 19/4 for the former Liverpool star to open the scoring again here.
Last Barcelona line-up: Ter Stegen, Nelsinho, Pique, Lenglet, Alba, Roberto, Rakitic, Busquets, Suarez, Messi, Dembele.
REAL MADRID 0-3 BARCELONA – Luis Suarez (2), Raphael Varane (og)
Previous head-to-head: Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid, Barcelona 5-1 Real Madrid, Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid, Real Madrid 0-3 Barcelona, Real Madrid 2-0 Barcelona, Barcelona 1-3 Real Madrid
