Northern Ireland showed great spirit in defeat against Norway and can’t be underestimated when facing Austria next up in Euro 2022 Group A.
However, Austria took four points off them in World Cup 2023 qualifying via a 3-1 win and a 2-2 draw and may be just too organised at St Mary’s Stadium.

“I don’t want good losers. We can say we’ve done well, which we probably did, but I feel we can’t be satisfied by just being good.
“Because anybody can be good; we need to be better than good and hopefully we’ll be better than good in our next game.”
However, the Irish don’t come up against the likes of Caroline Graham Hansen, Ingrid Syrstad Engen and Ada Hegerberg too often, so we thought they showed great heart.
One opponent they will have to watch out for here, though, is Nicole Billa, who has scored 43 international goals and was the 2021 player of the year in Germany for Hoffenheim.
