Rangers need a point in their final Champions League group game against Ajax to avoid a piece of unwanted history.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have lost all five matches with a goal difference of -18, with the worst ever group-stage record belonging to Dinamo Zagreb in the 2011-12 season, when they lost all six fixtures with -19.
An away win at 17/20 is still our first Rangers vs Ajax prediction, through.
Rangers Odds
Following a 1-1 draw with Livingston and another defeat to Napoli, Rangers lifted some pressure off boss Van Bronckhorst with a win over Aberdeen at the weekend.
Connor Barron put the Dons ahead at Ibrox, but the hosts bounced back, with goals from Antonio Colak, John Lundstram, James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos sealing a 4-1 win.
The manner of that victory raised hopes that Rangers can take confidence into their last Group A outing.
Van Bronckhorst said: “It is a different competition and it is Champions League again.
“Our last game in the Champions League. We are ready to get the first points of this campaign and I think we have a chance to do so at home against any team.
“A 90-minute performance like this on Tuesday will give us a chance against a quality opponent.
“If we win the game, we have even points with Ajax and that shows really the strength of this group.”
However, Rangers need a 5-0 win to squeeze into the Europa League, having lost 4-0 in Amsterdam last month.
An away win with both teams scoring is 21/10 in the Rangers vs Ajax odds.
Ajax Odds
Ajax have not had much to shout about in Europe since that hammering of Rangers in their opener.
They lost 2-1 late on at Anfield before 6-1 and 4-2 defeats to Napoli and a 3-0 home loss to Liverpool.
They did cause Jurgen Klopp’s side problems before conceding and have enjoyed two big wins – 7-1 at home to Excelsior and 4-1 at RKC Waalwijk – in their last two Eredivisie games.
Ajax have netted 10 goals in their last three away outings and are sure to cause Rangers problems.
Aside from when they scored the opener in the 7-1 hammering by Liverpool at Ibrox, Rangers have conceded inside 17 minutes in three of the other four group games.
The visitors to score more than the hosts in the first 15 minutes here is 15/4 and that completes our Rangers vs Ajax betting tips.
