Betting on the Davis Cup

The Davis Cup is a special competition in the tennis world. Similar to the matches during the Olympic tennis games, the players are no longer competing to win for themselves but for their country's name and pride.

Complete overhaul of the Davis Cup

In 2018, the international tennis federation decided to completely overhaul the dates and format of the annual competition that has been held since its inauguration in 1900. Initially, only amateur players could compete, but that all changed in 1973 when ATP professional players were welcomed. You can place your bets on the ATP on our online sports betting platform.

In order to determine the teams for the first phase — apart from the previous finalists, the nations of the world group that participated in the last finals and the winners of the continental play-offs, other nations compete in a play-off competition in March.

The winners of this play-off meet in a group phase that lasts one week in September, and the eight best nations meet in a knock-out phase on neutral ground across one week in November.

The winner of each match is the nation that wins the best of three matches - two singles and one double.

Betting on Davis Cup

Since the 2000s, more than 120 countries have been involved in the competition. In order to be part of the world group and participate in the Davis Cup finals, the 12 countries that did not qualify for the finals in the qualifiers face the 12 who did qualify on a seeded basis.

The atmosphere is much more subdued in the stands, and bettors can enjoy every point, game, set and match won. Additionally, betting on their home country makes it even more exciting. Based on the IFT rankings, the Davis Cup has a women's equivalent called the FED Cup.

Recommended Davis Cup Betting

Unfortunately, it is often difficult to judge the level of form or player motivation in singles or doubles during the competition. As well as the end-of-season fatigue, one factor to consider is that the prize money for the tournament is lower than for a regular ATP tournament.

Therefore, our recommended bet for Davis Cup is to wait for the first few points or games of the match and then use the live betting option to go with the player who seems more motivated to win and can string together a series of points.
