Hungarian GP
The Hungaroring is a great track and a nice place to end the first half of the season before the summer break (all F1 sports bets). The next GP will be a month later in Belgium at Spa-Francorchamps.
The cars are configured with high levels of aerodynamic downforce, and engineers are always keeping an eye on brake and engine temperatures, as hot weather is always a feature at this time of year.
Betting on the Hungarian GP in F1
Hungary has always wanted its own street circuit-style race, so it's no surprise that the Hungaroring has been compared to Monaco for its tight and technical nature. While it is certainly a higher average speed lap than Monaco, it is still one of the slowest tracks in F1.
High-speed stability is crucial. Some of the corners at the Hungaroring are deceptively fast, especially in sector two, and some of them are very long. To keep up to pace, a driver needs a compliant car that stays well balanced while entering and exiting corners.
As recently as the 2019 season, this race produced a memorable moment as Max Verstappen led most of the Grand Prix before a strategic call by Mercedes trapped Red Bull. Hamilton caught and passed Verstappen in the final laps of one of the most entertaining races of a dramatic season.
Betting on the Hungaroring circuit
At 4.381 km, the Hungaroring is the third shortest Formula 1 circuit on the current calendar and the second slowest after Monaco. The narrow layout of the circuit makes overtaking difficult — one of the reasons why many drivers don't like the track. Make sports bets online with bwin.
Further into the lap, Turn 12 was reshaped into a 90-degree right-hand turn to give drivers a longer run to the corner in the hope that it might help them overtake, but the overall effect was minimal at best.
Recommended bets on the Hungarian GP
The Hungaroring is quite unique compared to other tracks on the calendar since it resembles a traditional circuit with the characteristics of a karting track — lots of bounce with few long straights. High downforce and a well-balanced chassis are preferred by most teams over pure speed. A recommended bet on Formula 1 is to make live bets during the race.
