The two best female players of the season will battle it out for the final grand slam title when Iga Swiatek takes on Ons Jabeur in New York.
Jabeur will climb from fifth to second after reaching her second successive major final, but Swiatek is a long way clear at the top of the rankings.
The Pole also has an incredible record in trophy deciders and 13/10 for the favourite to prevail 2-0 is our first Iga Swiatek vs Ons Jabeur prediction.
Iga Swiatek Odds
At the tender age of 21, Swiatek is already a two-time grand slam winner, claiming the French Open title in 2020 and this term.
Sofia Kenin was crushed 6-4 6-1 in the first of those tournaments and then Coco Gauff was brushed aside 6-1 6-3.
The Pole has been in five WTA 1000 finals and two WTA 500 deciders, coming out on top in every one – and each time in straight sets.
Swiatek has not had things all her own way at Flushing Meadows, having to come from a set down to beat Jule Niemeier in round four and Aryna Sabalenka in the semis.
Jessica Pegula also gave her a tough work-out in the quarter-finals, taking the second set to a tiebreak.
However, while Swiatek has not found the same form that carried her to a 37-match winning run earlier this season, she has battled and come up with her best when she has needed to.
After seeing off Sabalenka 3-6 6-1 6-4, she said: “I’m pretty happy that even though maybe I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent perfectly from the beginning of the tournament, I was still able to get better and better and to play a really solid game.
“On clay, I feel just perfect. But for me actually winning when I’m not feeling perfectly, it’s the best kind of thing and best feeling. The satisfaction is pretty big.”
Swiatek is looking forward to locking horns again with Jabeur, adding: “She has a different game style than most of the players. She has great touch. She’s just a tough opponent. I think it’s going to be a great battle.”
We still feel the Pole has the big-match temperament to take the opening set 6-3, which is 5/1 in the Iga Swiatek vs Ons Jabeur odds.
Ons Jabeur Odds
Jabeur was fancied to become the first African woman and Arab to win a grand slam title when reaching the Wimbledon final.
However, nerves appeared to get the better of her at the All England Club and she lost to Elena Rybakina in three sets.
The Tunisian then suffered early exits in San Jose, Canada and Cincinnati but has recaptured her sparkle in New York.
She swatted aside Caroline Garcia 6-1 6-3 in the semi-finals and insists she is ready to learn from her Wimbledon experience.
“It feels more real just to be in the finals again,” said Jabeur. “At Wimbledon, I was kind of just living the dream, and I couldn’t believe it.
“Even after the match, I was just going to do my things and not realising it was an amazing achievement already.
“But now I hope I’m getting used to it. I feel very positive about this one. The most important thing is not to regret, because I’m going to give it all on this one.”
On facing Swiatek, she added: “Iga never loses finals, so it’s going to be very tough. I know she struggled a little bit with the balls here, but I don’t see her struggling much, to be honest with you.
“She’s playing awesome and it’s going to be a tough match, but I’m definitely going for my revenge. I love playing on this surface, and I feel like I know exactly what to do against her.”
For those who feel the underdog can at least be competitive, 91/100 for the first set to last 9-10 games is added to our Iga Swiatek vs Ons Jabeur betting tips.
