Basel vs PSV: Visitors are tipped to prevail again

Kick-off: 1900, 30/07/2019

Stadium: St-Jakob Park

PSV face a tough test when visiting Basel in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier but are rated too good to go out at this stage of the competition.

The Dutch outfit fired in a couple of late strikes when securing a slender 3-2 advantage on home turf and can finish the job off in Switzerland.

We’re sticking with the visitors to prevail again at 33/20 for our initial Basel vs PSV prediction.

A Look At FC Basel’s Betting Odds

Basel reached the last 16 of the Champions League a couple of seasons ago but have gone backwards since then in our book.

They returned from Greece trailing PAOK Salonika just 2-1 at this point 12 months ago, but were then crushed 3-0 in the home leg.

Marcel Koller’s side went on to finish 20 points behind Young Boys when second in the Swiss table last term.

This season started well on the domestic front with a 4-1 triumph at Sion, but Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to St Gallen gives cause for concern, even if some key players were rested.

Albian Ajeti and former Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel are decent attacking options, but Basel look fragile in defence.

That makes 3/1 for an away win and both teams to score stand out from the Basel vs PSV odds.

A Look At PSV Eindhoven’s Betting Odds

PSV went ahead through a 14th-minute Bruma goal at Philips Stadion, but Ajeti equalised on the stroke of half-time and they seemed in trouble when Omar Alderete struck with just 11 minutes left on the clock.

However, Sam Lammers levelled things up again in the last minute and there was still time for Donyell Malen to snatch a dramatic winner.

Mark van Bommel’s men, who finished just three points behind an outstanding Ajax side in the Dutch Eredivisie last term, are seeking to reach the group stage for the fourth time in five years.

Losing Luuk de Jong to Sevilla over the summer was a blow, but keeping flying wingers Hirving Lozano and Steven Bergwijn, plus Bruma’s £13.5million capture from RB Leipzig, leaves them well set for another decent season.

Let’s finish off our Basel vs PSV betting tips by taking 5/2 for an away win and over 2.5 goals.
