Germany flew through qualifying for next summer’s showpiece and scored a whopping 34 goals in their ten fixtures. For the third and final leg of our treble we will go with Denmark vs Sweden. These two sides have been in great form in front of goal. Denmark have scored eight goals in their last three matches and have not failed to score in almost exactly 12 months (eight matches). Sweden come into the friendly on the back of a 3-2 win against Holland and scoring 11 goals in the final three away victories of their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. It is also worth considering that this is a Scandinavian derby with some explosive history. In June 2007, with a thrilling Euro 2008 qualifier tied at 3-3 in Copenhagen, Sweden were awarded a last-minute penalty after a clash between Markus Rosenberg and Christian Poulsen. A Denmark fan then ran onto the pitch and attempted to attack the referee, resulting in the match being abandoned and subesequently awarded 3-0 to the visitors. This clash is highly unlikely to be a low-key or friendly affair, then, and certainly has the potential to generate red cards, which in turn should play into our hands by increasing the probability of plenty of goals being scored.
