We’ve got five selections the the first round of the Euro 2024 group stage games, spanning from Germany v Scotland on June 14 to Portugal v Czech Republic on June 18, eyeing a near-14/1 pay-out.
Germany to beat Scotland – @ 29/100
Not exactly a long shot by any means, but it felt wrong to kick off our Euro 2024 accumulator tips piece without speaking about the host nation, Germany.
As one of the favourites heading into this summer’s tournament, the Germans will want to kick off their campaign with a big win, and we expect them to do just that.
So, don’t be surprised to see Havertz, Musiala and Wirtz with their arms raised on Friday evening.
Hungary to beat Switzerland – @ 23/10
It was Turkey in 2021 at Euro 2020, but the dark horses amongst many fans and pundits for Euro 2024 is Hungary, who have been drawn in Group A alongside Germany, Scotland and their opponents on Saturday, Switzerland.
The Swiss knocked France out of Euro 2021, and will be seen by some as the favourites to beat Hungary on June 15, but we’re actually predicting a win for the Hungarians, who have turned into a well-established international outfit over the last few years.
We expect Hungary to get out of their group, potentially even finishing in second, and we’re pegging their campaign to get off to a great start with a big win on Saturday.
Netherlands to beat Poland @ 11/20
The Netherlands have done very well in their pre-tournament friendly matches, scoring four goals in three of their last four matches since March of this year.
We expect the Dutch to do well at Euro 2024, and their campaign should kick off with a win over Poland, who are expected to be without star man Robert Lewandowski, who was taken off during their final Euro 2024 warm-up game with an injury.
The quality of the Dutch, the form their going into the tournament with, and Lewandowski’s injury are why we’re going with a win for the Netherlands in our Euro 2024 predictions piece.
Belgium to beat Slovakia @ 47/100
Belgium’s golden generation might not be as good as it once was, but they’ve still got an incredibly talented squad, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.
Whether their squad has the minerals to go far at Euro 2024 remains to be seen, but we can’t see them kicking off their campaign with anything other than a win against Slovakia next week.
Slovakia have been priced as one of the weakest teams in the tournament, according to the odds, so Belgium should have too much to offer to not pick up all three points in their opening Euro 2024 group game.
Portugal to beat Czech Republic @ 53/100
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line for Portugal this summer at Euro 2024, his sixth and possible final European Championship.
CR7 is still banging in goals for fun, so while not our official prediction for Portugal’s opening game, don’t be surprised to see him find the back of the net against Czech on Tuesday evening.
We are, however, going for a win for Ronaldo and co in their opening game, concluding our Euro 2024 opening round acca, which can be backed at the time of writing with odds of 346/25.
