Celtic face a tough trip to Denmark as they look to progress to the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

The Hoops were held to a 1-1 draw by Midtjylland in the first leg at Parkhead last Tuesday night and were thrashed 6-2 by West Ham in Saturday’s friendly.

It seems the Scottish side are not quite up to speed yet under Ange Postecoglou and a home win at 27/20 is our first Midtjylland vs Celtic prediction.

A Look At Midtjylland’s Betting Odds

Like Celtic, Midtjylland finished second in their league last season and Bo Henriksen’s side have already had a couple of domestic outings this term.

A 2-1 home defeat to OB Odense will not have injected much confidence, but Saturday’s 1-0 triumph at Aalborg was more like it.

Last week’s gutsy fightback in Glasgow in the first leg of this tie, which saw both teams reduced to 10 men, also augurs well.

After falling 1-0 behind to Liel Abada’s goal just before half-time, Midtjylland ensured they would return home on level terms courtesy of Evander’s 66th-minute equaliser.

With the away goals rule not counting this season, another tight game is expected here and 15/2 for a 1-0 home win takes the eye from the Midtjylland vs Celtic odds.

A Look At Celtic’s Betting Odds

Postecoglou had voiced concerns over his squad’s fitness prior to the first match, but Celtic went ahead when Abada struck six minutes before half-time on his competitive debut.

The Hoops’ task was made harder as Nir Bitton was sent off just before the interval and, after Midtjylland also had a player dismissed, the visitors denied Postecoglou victory in his first game in charge.

There were some positive signs for the Australian, as new captain Callum McGregor skimmed the bar from the edge of the box and Odsonne Edouard was denied by Jonas Lossl.

But Saturday’s chastening defeat by the Hammers was a wake-up call to tighten up at the back, although two teams of Hoops players were used over the 90 minutes.

Postecoglou told CelticTV: “It is about them growing and understanding what they can and can’t do on a football field, what approach they need to take.

“It will be as much about their response as it is about me giving them guidance moving forward.”

Another low-scoring game could be on the cards in this much more important contest and 4/5 for under 2.5 goals rounds off our Midtjylland vs Celtic betting tips.
