Poland vs Russia: Eagles to soar in Euro 2020 warm-up

Kick-off: 1945, 01/06/2021

Stadium: Stadion Wroclaw

TV: Sky Sports

Poland are picked to see off Russia in Tuesday’s Euro 2020 warm-up match, judged on each teams’ exploits in international friendlies last year.

The Eagles beat Finland 5-1 and Ukraine 2-0, with both matches on home turf, whereas their opponents were edged out 2-1 by Sweden and only drew 0-0 with Moldova.

That form points us towards taking 5/4 for Paulo Sousa’s side to prevail in Wroclaw for our first Poland vs Russia prediction.

A Look At Poland’s Betting Odds

Poland will line up in Group E at Euro 2020 alongside Spain, Sweden and Slovakia, having qualified as pool winners ahead of Austria.

A record of eight wins and one draw from 10 games in that campaign reads well, with just five goals conceded during those fixtures.

Robert Lewandowski scored a third of his side’s 18 strikes and has now netted an incredible 66 times in 118 international appearances.

Marseille’s Arkadiusz Milik is another useful forward while Mat Klich of Leeds features in a hard-working midfield.

West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski and Juventus shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny share duties between the posts, with Southampton’s Jan Bednarek part of a solid defence.

A decent Nations League effort featured two wins over Bosnia and Herzegovina while World Cup qualifying started well enough, despite a 2-1 loss to England at Wembley.

This is a well-drilled unit across all departments and 13/5 for a home win to nil appeals from the Poland vs Russia odds.

A Look At Russia’s Betting Odds

Russia can look forward to facing Belgium, Denmark and Finland in Group B at Euro 2020.

Stanislav Cherchesov’s side finished second to the Red Devils in qualifying, losing twice to that team but winning their other eight games.

Last year’s Nations League performance was poor, though, with a 3-2 loss in Turkey and a 5-0 thrashing in Serbia closing that campaign.

Early World Cup wins over Malta and Slovenia were followed by a 2-1 defeat in Slovakia, so there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Russia do not travel well.

At least talismanic Zenit St Petersburg striker Artem Dzyuba is back in favour while Aleksandr Golovin and Aleksei Miranchuk are highly-rated midfielders.

However, we still expect Russia to save their best for bigger nights coming up in Euro 2020 and are happy to take them on here.

Let’s add 9/2 for Draw HT/Poland FT to our Poland vs Russia betting tips.
