Premiership Rugby Union

In the English rugby league, the Premiership Rugby Union, the pressure is off for teams who might be worried about relegation to the RFU Championship. For the second consecutive season, no team will be relegated.

Betting in the Premiership in 2021/22

Thirteen teams will compete in this season, which will last for 40 weeks, with breaks for international test matches. The season lasts from September to June 2022 for the finalists. No team is relegated, and the Saracens return to the top tier of rugby in England. This is the second of three seasons where there will be no relegation in the English rugby league. It becomes a sort of semi-closed league.

This season is the first under the salary cap regulations. With more games to be played and no opportunity to strengthen beyond the salary cap, the Premiership season is likely to be a tough one for the players.

At the end of the regular season, the top four teams qualify for the European Rugby Cup finals, and the next four each get a ticket to the Champions Cup, making eight teams in total going into cup competitions

Recommended Premiership Betting

One team currently stands out at the top of the league, mainly due to their excellent defence — Leicester Tigers. They have won all their games and set the standard in the 2021/22 campaign. They are the most successful team with ten championship trophies.

Saracens are well and truly in the running for the Premiership title after their return to the forefront of English rugby. In the last seven seasons, Saracens have won four titles but also experienced relegation.

Defending champions Harlequins and Northampton Saints have also been among the most impressive teams so far and join the top four as winter approaches.

Betting on future champions

The Premiership champion has now been decided by the play-offs since 2002-03.

Overlapping between domestic and international rugby in the autumn and during the Six Nations means that some clubs will be without players for more than a third of the season.

Hosting a final at Twickenham is always an unmissable event for punters and an important date in the calendars.
