Nigeria flopped versus Madagascar last time out but are given another chance to show their true worth against holders Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles qualified for the World Cup ahead of the Indomitable Lions, beating them 4-1 at home and drawing 1-1 away, before performing with credit at Russia 2018.

We’re backing Gernot Rohr’s side at 29/20 to prevail in normal time for our initial Nigeria vs Cameroon prediction.

A Look At Nigeria’s Betting Odds

Nigeria started out well in Group B with 1-0 wins over Burundi and Guinea, with former Watford forward Odion Ighalo and Chelsea employee Kenneth Omeruo grabbing the goals.

However, the Super Eagles were then stunned by Madagascar, losing 2-0 after making several changes, with centre-half Leon Balogun badly at fault for the first strike.

Head coach Rohr explained: “We made five changes because we wanted to give a rest to some players and also preserve those with cards.

“Sometimes it happens when you are already qualified – the players are relaxed and playing too easy.”

Ighalo added: “I think this is a wake-up call for us. We played very poorly and our mentality was not very good. We have to go back and regroup.”

This remains a talented team, though, with the likes of former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel, Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester and ex-Foxes ace Ahmed Musa available.

If back fully focused, Nigeria vs Cameroon odds.

A Look At Cameroon’s Betting Odds

Cameroon were surprise outright victors in Gabon two years ago but seem determined to prove that was no flash in the pan and will not relinquish their title without fight.

Banana Yaya and Stephane Bahoken netted in an opening 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, prior to goalless draws with two good sides in Ghana and Benin.

Highly-rated keeper Andre Onana enjoyed a stellar campaign with Ajax last season and has further enhanced his reputation with a trio of clean sheets in Egypt.

However, despite having decent forwards such as Clinton N’Jie, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Christian Bassogog, we are yet to be impressed by the Indomitable Lions going forward.

Let’s finish off our Nigeria vs Cameroon betting tips by taking 5/1 for the Super Eagles to shade this 1-0.
