Serbia and Switzerland will both have been happy with their opening World Cup efforts and we reckon they are hard to split ahead of Friday’s clash.
The Eagles kicked off with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica, while the Red Crusaders held pre-tournament favourites Brazil to a 1-1 draw.
This looks an even contest and we’re going for a stalemate at 21/10 as our main Serbia vs Switzerland prediction.
A Look At Serbia’s Betting Odds
Former Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov was Serbia’s hero in Samara, settling the issue with a stunning free-kick.
Aleksandar Mitrovic was twice denied by Keylor Navas when through on goal but they still came away with maximum points.
Coach Mladen Krstajic said: “My players had the right attitude and approach – unity. We had to be a compact unit in both defence and attack and that’s most important.”
Serbia were strong in possession and continually driven forward by the impressive Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, while Nemanja Matic had his usual solid game.
A Look At Switzerland’s Betting Odds
Switzerland showed great spirit to earn a share of the spoils against Brazil, especially after going behind to a spectacular Philippe Coutinho strike.
Midfielder Steven Zuber headed his side level five minutes into the second half and then Yann Sommer kept out efforts from Neymar and Roberto Firmino.
Manager Vladimir Petkovic commented: “The opponent was better and had more scoring opportunities, but I am proud of my team, the way they presented themselves.
“They didn’t give up, went the full 90 minutes, and when we were able to play forward and press high up, we did it very well indeed. It’s an excellent start.”
It is 14/1 for the Red Crusaders to again be behind at half-time and then rally for a draw, so let’s add that to our Serbia vs Switzerland betting tips.
