World Cup hosts Russia are sitting pretty at the top of Group A after thrashing Saudi Arabia first up and may now settle for sharing the spoils with Egypt.
The Pharaohs suffered a heart-breaking late loss against Uruguay in their opening fixture and now need a positive result.
They showed plenty of spirit versus La Celeste but not much attacking flair, so 21/10 for a draw gets the nod as our Russia vs Egypt prediction.
A Look At Russia’s Betting Odds
Russia couldn’t have asked for a better start, with the hosts romping to a 5-0 victory in Moscow thanks to some clinical finishing.
Stanislav Cherchesov’s side dominated from the outset, opening the scoring through Yury Gazinsky before Denis Cheryshev grabbed his first just before the break.
Substitute Artem Dzyuba made it 3-0 in the 71st minute and late goals from Cheryshev and Aleksandr Golovin completed the rout of a tactically naive Saudi Arabia.
Cherchesov refused to get carried away with the result, stating: “We won our first game at (last summer’s) Confederations Cup and it didn’t take us too far.
“So we’re on the right track, but we should turn the page and forget this game.”
Cherchesov knows their next opponents will be far more organised and resilient at the back, so we’re expecting a cagey contest this time.
A Look At Egypt’s Betting Odds
Egypt started brightly against group favourites Uruguay in Ekaterinburg but lacked a cutting edge up front without Mohamed Salah.
The Pharaohs then began to sit deeper and deeper in the second period and had to survive several scares before Jose Gimenez headed in a late winner.
It was especially tough on Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who produced two good saves from Luis Suarez and one from Edinson Cavani before he was finally beaten.
Head coach Hector Cuper told FIFA: “Perhaps if Mo had been on the pitch the outcome would have been different but we can’t know that.
“Certainly, he has contributed a great amount to the team and will contribute in future matches.
“We wanted to avoid any risks in this match, but I think he will be fine for the next game.”
Even if not fully up to speed, Salah’s presence should give the Pharaohs a psychological lift, as well as adding some much-needed creative flair.
His presence would make 18/5 for a score draw a tempting option for our Russia vs Egypt betting tips.
