World Cup holders Germany are under pressure after starting out with a 1-0 loss to Mexico and face another tricky test when taking on Sweden.
The Scandinavians beat South Korea by the same scoreline and their direct approach could well unsettle Die Mannschaft in Sochi.
Sweden haven’t won any of their last seven encounters with Germany, but they have drawn two of the past three meetings.
We’re going for another stalemate here at 4/1 as our first Germany vs Sweden prediction.
A Look At Germany’s Betting Odds
Germany faced a different conundrum against Mexico, with El Tri showing plenty of speed and skill on the break in that Group F opener.
The underdogs deserved to be ahead at the interval through Hirving Lozano’s breakaway goal and Die Mannschaft looked sluggish as they sought to level the scores.
Toni Kroos had a free-kick tipped onto the bar and Julian Brandt hit the outside of the post late on, but this was far from a polished performance.
Joachim Low is not about to rip up his team’s blueprint for success, insisting: “Throw out the game plan? We certainly do not do that.
“If we do the things we do well, then we can achieve a lot. We will not fall to pieces. We will make it through.”
Low has earned the right to remain confident after a long and glittering career as national team boss, but Germany had also laboured during warm-up matches.
A Look At Sweden’s Betting Odds
Andreas Granqvist’s second-half penalty proved enough for Sweden to see off South Korea but they were more dominant than that scoreline suggests.
The captain said: “I think we showed an excellent attitude out on the pitch. We are a team with fight.
“We run on behalf of each other. I am incredibly proud of all the lads and now we focus on the next match against Germany.”
Head coach Janne Andersson added: “Germany’s defeat did possibly make it more important to win.
“I was just focused on this game and wanted to win it but, looking ahead, the opportunities for us now are so much greater after winning.”
Sweden showed they will not be overawed when taking on big names on the road to Russia, finishing ahead of Holland in their group and then beating Italy in a play-off.
They can match Die Mannschaft’s physicality and 33/4 for a 1-1 draw completes our Germany vs Sweden betting tips.
