Germany have exceeded our early expectations at the Confederations Cup and are now fancied to reach the final at the expense of Mexico.

When Joachim Low named a largely second-string squad for the trip to Russia, we thought the World Cup winners were a team to take on at this tournament.

However, they have shown Die Mannschaft’s strength in depth and are tipped at 21/20 to win in normal time in our Germany vs Mexico betting tips.

A Look At Germany’s Betting Odds

After a patchy first period, Germany produced some clinical finishing in the second half to beat Cameroon 3-1 in their final Group B game in Sochi.

Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay fired in a fine strike from the edge of the box before Leipzig striker Timo Werner showed why he was the top-scoring German in the Bundesliga last term with two well-taken goals.

As in the 3-2 defeat of Australia and 1-1 draw with Chile, there were holes in Germany’s defence that will give Mexico hope, but Low’s side are very easy on the eye going forward.

Looking at the Germany vs Mexico odds, Die Mannschaft to win and both teams to score appeals at 14/5.

A Look At Mexico’s Betting Odds

Mexico made a promising start when drawing 2-2 with Portugal but have since made rather hard work of securing 2-1 wins against limited outfits in New Zealand and Russia.

El Tri had to come from behind in both of those games and cannot afford to show similar early nerves now taking on stronger opposition.

Russia could easily have been two or three up in Kazan on Saturday and Mexico also benefited from some poor goalkeeping at the other end, so will need to improve against a Germany side playing for the third time in Sochi.

We’re rounding off our Germany vs Mexico predictions by taking 15/2 for Die Mannschaft to prevail 2-1.
