Denmark were a touch fortunate to edge out Peru in their World Cup opener and we think Australia can match them in the second round of Group C fixtures.
The Socceroos went down narrowly to France first up, but showed all of their usual energy and spirit in that contest.
Based on what we’ve seen so far at Russia 2018, 5/2 for a draw is our main Denmark vs Australia prediction.
A Look At Denmark’s Betting Odds
Denmark ultimately beat Peru 1-0 thanks to a fine assist from Christian Eriksen and Yussuf Poulsen’s well-taken 59th-minute strike.
Tottenham playmaker Eriksen could have added a second on the break, but the Scandinavians were also put under plenty of pressure at the other end.
Christian Cueva missed a penalty and Kasper Schmeichel had to make several key saves in a workmanlike performance from Age Hareide’s side.
“He is acrobatic, he is a very quick goalkeeper,” commented the manager.
“He is fast on his feet and his goal line play is probably the best in the world when he is in form.
“We have to acknowledge the performance of Kasper, but also the whole defence and the whole team.”
Denmark didn’t come across as a team capable of dominating matches, though, and Australia should also get chances to attack.
A Look At Australia’s Betting Odds
Australia were only undone by a debatable Antoine Griezmann spot-kick and a deflected Paul Pogba strike when going down 2-1 to a much-vaunted France outfit.
The Socceroos replied through a Mile Jedinak penalty and tried to get forward as often as possible against quality opponents.
“I think we gave a very good performance,” said coach Bert van Marwijk. “I’m proud but disappointed.
“No-one expected we could play like this against France but I think there were a lot of moments when they didn’t know what to do any more, so that’s a big compliment for us.
“We deserved a draw and when you see this game, you must have confidence for the rest of the tournament.”
We agree with those views and are adding 17/4 for a score draw to our Denmark vs Australia betting tips.
