Croatia went into the World Cup as dark horses to go all the way and their impressive form in Russia makes them strong fancies to get past Denmark.
Zlatko Dalic’s side secured three straight victories to top Group D, with the highlight being a 3-0 demolition of Argentina.
All the evidence points towards them being too classy for a solid, but unspectacular Denmark side at the last-16 stage.
Punters can get 7/10 for the Blazers to oblige in normal time and we’re snapping that up as our first Croatia vs Denmark prediction.
A Look At Croatia’s Betting Odds
Croatia did not have to go all out to beat Iceland in their final pool match and made nine changes, but still had the strength in depth to claim a 2-1 triumph.
Milan Badelj’s well-taken half-volley was cancelled out by a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty, but Ivan Perisic thumped in a last-gasp strike to settle the issue.
“No-one expected nine points but that is what we have ended up with,” said Croatia coach Dalic.
“We have to put those three matches behind us, though. We have to focus on Denmark, it is our moment of truth on Sunday. I don’t think we will end in the last 16.”
Star trio Perisic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic have all made good contributions so far and that should stand Croatia in good stead.
However, they did look vulnerable when defending crosses versus Iceland, so Denmark may be able to exploit that and have their moments.
A Look At Denmark’s Betting Odds
Denmark put themselves in the driving seat to progress from Group C when edging out Peru 1-0 in the first round of fixtures.
The Scandinavians then battled hard to draw 1-1 against Australia, before playing out a tepid 0-0 stalemate with France which benefited both teams.
Age Hareide set up his side not to concede against Les Bleus and was unapologetic about the lack of action in that game.
He said: “We were up against one of the best counter-attack teams in the world, so we would have been stupid to give them space.”
Croatia look superior ahead of this encounter, but Denmark do have one creative talent in Christian Eriksen, while Yussuf Poulsen has caught the eye up front.
That may tempt Hareide to give it a go, as anything above getting out of their group will be regarded as a bonus.
We hope this will be an entertaining encounter and are adding 12/5 for the Blazers to oblige and over 2.5 goals in the game to our Croatia vs Denmark betting tips.
