Peru’s players haven’t quite matched the passion of their supporters at the World Cup but we’re hoping they can send those fanatical fans home happy by beating Australia.
Los Incas have yet to score at Russia 2018 but they do have some useful attacking players and may find the Socceroos more open at the back.
We’re tipping the South American side to prevail at 8/5 for our first Australia vs Peru prediction.
A Look At Australia’s Betting Odds
Australia produced plenty of energy and enthusiasm in a 2-1 loss to France and then battled back bravely to earn a share of the spoils against Denmark.
However, both of their goals have come via Mile Jedinak penalties after handball offences from crosses into the box.
In open play, the Socceroos just lack a cutting edge up front, although Huddersfield’s Aaron Mooy did threaten from long range versus the Danes.
Manager Bert van Marwijk said: “Beside the first 15 minutes we played well, had chances to win and deserved to win, so I am disappointed.
“We played very well and created chances and it is an unbelievable pity that we didn’t score.
“When you are at this level and create so many chances against Denmark, I must be happy with the number of chances, the only thing we have to do is put the ball in the goal.”
A Look At Peru’s Betting Odds
Peru bossed possession for long spells in Thursday’s 1-0 loss to France and at least gave their huge support some hope with a couple of decent efforts.
Paolo Guerrero forced Hugo Lloris to save down low after a neat touch in the box and then Pedro Aquino hit the woodwork with a long-range thunderbolt.
Jefferson Farfan also hit the side netting from a tight angle late on and coach Ricardo Gareca said: “We left everything on the field against two very tough opponents.
“We thank the Peruvian fans so much for the great support in Russia. But this does not end here, we are going to close the World Cup with the same attitude.”
Australia need to win and hope Denmark lose versus France to stand a chance of going through, while also needing a two-goal swing, so this should be an open contest.
That could suit Los Incas, making 4/1 for them to win and both teams to score worth adding to our Australia vs Peru betting tips.
