La Liga Weekend Betting Preview

Last week seven of my ten La Liga betting tips came in, and if you chose to stick a fiver on each one you would have made a profit of £45.75. So, eyes down for where your money should go this week.

Saturday, 22nd October

Sporting Gijon v Granada

Home win: 19/20            Draw: 9/4        Away win: 3/1

Betting Tip: Hapless Gijon lie bottom of the pile after a winless start to the season with just a solitary draw to their name. The Rojiblancos have only scored once in their last five games and once at home all season. Opponents Granada have struggled since gaining promotion and they also have issues with finding the back of the net. Neither of them seem good enough to win it and with under 2.5 goals at 31/50, you may as well have the draw at 9/4.

Racing Santander v Espanyol

Home win: 29/20            Draw: 43/20       Away win: 19/10

Betting Tip: Struggling Santander are also without a win all season and have only scored once in six matches since scoring three at the Mestalla on the opening day. Espanyol are tucked safely in mid-table with three wins against lower placed sides so get on them to edge this one with under 3.5 goals in the game at 13/5.

Malaga v Real Madrid

Home win: 27/4              Draw: 18/5       Away win: 19/50

Betting Tip: Malaga’s multi-million pound project is still a work in progress as illustrated by a mixed bag record of four wins, a draw and two defeats so far this campaign. They have won all three at home but not against the calibre of a Real Madrid team who have scored 21 times in winning their last five games. Real Madrid to win with over 3.5 goals in the game at 9/5 looks value.

Barcelona v Sevilla

Home win: 3/25              Draw: 7/1      Away win: 18/1

Betting Tip: Barcelona’s brilliant attacking football has audiences worldwide purring with excitement but they’ve also turned themselves into a miserly defensive unit. The champions haven’t conceded in winning their last five games and Sevilla will have a job altering that statistic to take any points at the Camp Nou. A multiple correct score of either 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 Barca is 7/4.

Sunday, 23rd October

Real Betis v Rayo Vallecano

Home win: 3/4                Draw: 5/2      Away win: 15/4

Betting Tip: Betis’ blistering return to La Liga has been curtailed by three defeats on the bounce but they can get back to winning ways against a fairly ordinary Rayo. There isn’t much value at the straight Betis win at 3/4 so the Betis win with under 3.5 goals at 27/20 seems extremely generous.

Real Sociedad v Getafe

Home win: 6/5                Draw: 9/4      Away win: 9/4

Betting Tip: Two more sides with not much to shout about meet up this weekend with both desperate for the points. Sociedad have lost four of their last five with Getafe winning just once over the same period. bwin don’t have a market for both sides to lose so have a look at the draw at 9/4.

Atletico Madrid v Mallorca

Home win: 9/20              Draw: 16/5      Away win: 6/1

Betting Tip: Atletico have been predictably unpredictable after a summer reconstruction which makes trying to make sense of their games virtually impossible. To thicken the plot Mallorca are unbeaten in three after an injury time equaliser against Valencia last week but Atletico can nick this one with both teams finding the target. A multiple score chance of 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 Atletico is 16/5.

Osasuna v Real Zaragoza

Home win: 19/20            Draw: 47/20      Away win: 57/20

Betting Tip: Osasuna traditionally have a decent home record and they’re unbeaten in three this season. They had only lost to Barcelona before last weekend but were well outplayed by Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames and there’s nothing to definitely suggest they’ll be back to winning ways this time around. Meanwhile, Zaragoza have lost just once in six, drawing three. With both teams difficult to beat but hardly making a case for the win a draw looks good at 47/20.

Valencia v Athletic Bilbao

Home win: 13/20            Draw: 27/10      Away win: 17/4

Betting Tip: Valencia briefly led La Liga after four fixtures and were being loosely talked about as contenders after having the better of a draw with Barcelona. Aspirations have dulled with Los Che having won just once in all competitions since, while they have also struggled to score. Athletic are bobbing along merrily in mid-table and providing good entertainment along the way. They’ve scored in all bar one of their last nine but Valencia should have enough to see them off. A multiple score chance of 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 Valencia is 333/100.

Villarreal v Levante

Home win: 19/20            Draw: 23/10      Away win: 29/10

Betting Tip: Villarreal are in a mess after winning just two of twelve games in all competitions this season and their mood won’t have been helped by Manchester City’s late Champions League winner in midweek. Little Levante have been the fairytale of the league so far and still sit level on points with Barcelona, and 29/10 represents excellent value for them to keep in toe with the European Champions.
