The Premier League is finally back and Bwin are offering enhanced odds on selected matches to celebrate, so why not have a punt on an extra-value treble which pays over 34/1, where it would normally pay 32/1.
West Brom to beat Southampton @ 27/20
Last season’s 17-goal top scorer Romelu Lukaku may have departed the Hawthorns, but Matej Vydra – who bettered that mark in the Championship on-loan at Watford – has been snapped up just in the nick of time and Steve Clarke’s Baggies, who kicked-off the last campaign with a 3-0 win over Liverpool, are taken to overcome Mauricio Pochettino’s Saints, who could be without first-choice full-backs Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw through injury.
Crystal Palace v Tottenham – Draw @ 27/10
Spurs are perennially slow-starters in the Premier League – without an opening day win since 2009 – and with a Gareth Bale-shaped cloud hovering over White Hart Lane, Andre Villas-Boas’ side could lack focus against Palace, despite their impressive new signings. The last time Ian Holloway took part in a Premier League opening weekend, his Blackpool team tore apart Wigan Athletic 4-0 at the DW Stadium and while a repeat of that score-line isn’t on the cards, Palace’s four draws in the final six games of last season’s Championship points to a stalemate at Selhurst Park.
Cardiff City to beat West Ham @ 31/10
With Andy Carroll out injured, West Ham will be heavily reliant on last term’s top scorer Kevin Nolan’s goals from midfield in the first few weeks of the new season, but neither Modibo Maiga nor Ricardo Vaz Te will strike any fear into Malky Mackay’s men up-front. Cardiff have spent big and well this summer – former Spurs centre-back Steven Caulker is the pick of the new signings at £8m – and with goal-threats in most areas of the pitch, the Bluebirds can capitalise on Sam Allardyce’s uncharacteristically inactive summer in the transfer market.
