Newcastle’s hopes of winning Sunday’s Tyne and Wear derby will be lifted by the news that January signing Papiss Demba Cisse looks set to be fit for the St James’ Park showdown.
The Senegal international had been a doubt because of a groin injury suffered in the Magpies’ 2-2 draw with Wolves last weekend.
Although the complaint forced him to miss his country’s midweek international against South Africa, Newcastle coach John Carver said in an interview with the Journal that Cisse should be ready to play for his new club in three days’ time.
Cisse has been a big hit since his arrival on Tyneside, with a goal in both of his appearances at home to date and two goals in three league appearances overall.
“He should be okay,” Carver told the news provider.
“He had a problem with his groin, he hasn’t trained yet. He didn’t train on Wednesday and I think the fortunate thing is that we have the extra day with the game being on Sunday. But fingers crossed he should be okay.”
Cisse has been a big hit since his arrival on Tyneside, with a goal in both of his appearances at home to date and two goals in three Premier League appearances overall.
His inclusion in Newcastle’s starting line-up for Sunday’s game at St James’ Park would therefore make him a good bet to score at any time at odds of 7/5.
A successful £25 free bet on Cisse to score at any time is set to return £60, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
