With the first meeting of the season between Real Madrid and Barcelona out of the way, Bwin has switched sights to Sunday’s La Liga clash between Espanyol and Atletico Madrid.
The game is one of three tipped to feature more than 2.5 goals and using the picks in an over 2.5 goals treble secures tempting odds of 247/50. At these odds, a successful £25 free bet on the outcome would return £148.50, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
Over 2.5 goals in Stoke v Tottenham @87/100
This Sunday, potential title contenders Tottenham will bid for their fourth away win on the trot at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium. It is a feat Spurs have never managed in the Premier League era, and in the Potters they face a resurgent side unbeaten in their last three outings in all competitions.
That won’t faze Harry Redknapp’s troops, though, with the in-form Londoners having won 2-1 on their last two league visits to the Britannia, and they’ll be expecting to make it 11 wins from their last 12.
Only league leaders Manchester City have a better goals-per-game ratio than Spurs, but the visitors won’t have it all their own way if the stats are anything to go by. Of Tottenham’s league goals conceded this term, 31 per cent of them have come courtesy of an opponent’s head.
That’s the highest percentage in the division, and, coincidentally, the Potters boast the highest percentage of headed goals scored (36 per cent), with a whopping 64 per cent of their 14 Premier League goals being assisted from a set-play. Thus, Stoke are likely to find a breakthrough, but expect Tottenham to have too much firepower in an openly fought contest.
Over 2.5 goals in Espanyol v Atletico Madrid @21/20
While most of this weekend’s hype in Spain’s top flight will surround El Clasico in Madrid, a less glamorous but often more entertaining fixture will take place in the city of Barcelona at Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, the home of Espanyol, where Atletico Madrid are visitors on Sunday.
This so-called poor man’s El Clasico between Madrid and Barcelona’s secondary clubs has produced an impressive 34 goals in the last ten encounters. Last season alone, the sides racked up 12 goals in four meetings, including a 2-2 share of the spoils at Sunday’s venue last time out. As ever, little separates the sides as Atletico hold a two-point advantage in eighth place in La Liga ahead of the battle.
Never shy of a spectacle, the visitors have been involved in nine games which have witnessed over 2.5 goals this season – that’s 64.3 per cent of their league games. Meanwhile, exactly half of Espanyol’s league outings have produced at least three goals, adding further weight to the prospect of another thriller in Catalonia.
Over 2.5 goals in Stuttgart v Bayern Munich @11/20
In recent years, this fixture has conjured up some bizarre scoring patterns, but each of Stuttgart’s last four meetings with Bayern Munich have involved at least three goals. In fact, in the last two meetings held at Sunday’s venue, the Mercedes-Benz-Arena, supporters have witnessed a staggering 17 goals, with Bayern the beneficiaries of 6-3 and 5-3 away wins respectively on Stuttgart’s own turf.
Sunday’s hosts will be desperate to make amends, not least for their home support, but in Bayern they face a rampant side that have already accumulated 38 goals from their 15 Bundesliga games, despite a recent wobble which saw back-to-back domestic defeats to Dortmund and Mainz 05. Both sides have been prolific in taking part in games that have featured over three goals, with Bayern’s 66.7 per cent ratio closely followed by Stuttgart’s 53.3 per cent. Bayern should have enough to breach Stuttgart’s defence on more than one occasion, but expect the hosts to provide some discomfort for the title favourites. Back over 2.5 goals with Bwin’s price of 11/20.
