Over 2.5 goals in AC Milan v Chievo @ 3/4
Both sides had very different midweek workouts ahead of Sunday’s clash at the San Siro. The visitors have won three games on the trot in all competitions, with Wednesday’s 3-0 Italian Cup win over Modena massaging their growing self-confidence. On the same night, Massimiliano Allegri’s troops suffered a morale-damaging home defeat to Barcelona, but the Rossoneri remain the match favourites (3/10).
Chievo won’t go down without a fight, though, and expect them to get on the scoresheet – as they have done in their previous four games – even if they do suffer defeat. If it’s big bucks you’re lumping, look no further than over 2.5 goals at 3/4. Why? Of Milan’s 11 Serie A games this season, seven of them have accumulated at least three goals – that’s 63.6%. From the same number of games, Chievo have been involved in such encounters on five occasions, just under half, so Sunday’s clash is a potential end-to-end affair.
Over 2.5 goals in Auxerre v Lyon @ 11/10
Two of Ligue 1’s mainstays lock horns at Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps this weekend as Auxerre host Lyon in what also promises to be an open encounter. Three of the last five meetings hosted by the Burgundy-based club have produced over 2.5 goals, suggesting this contest rarely disappoints as a spectacle.
In terms of goals, Auxerre tend to give as good as they get, represented in their zero goal difference, so expect both teams to at least get off the mark in this one. Exactly half of Auxerre’s league games have accrued three or more goals, while Lyon’s tally for the same feat edges over the halfway line at 57.1% from the same number of games (14). Back that trend to continue at a tidy 11/10.
Over 2.5 goals in Kilmarnock v Rangers @ 13/20
With Kilmarnock’s leaky defence being the third worst in the Scottish Premier League, leaders Rangers will be eyeing up a rout when the sides meet at Rugby Park on Sunday. Last weekend’s 0-0 draw was a first blank of the season for Ally McCoist’s men, but in Nikica Jelavic the Gers possess a constant goal threat and they’ll be eager to make up for missed opportunities last time out.
It may not all be one-way traffic, of course, but more than half of Killie’s games this season have seen over 2.5 goals, including four of their last five at Rugby Park, with their last home outing a thrilling nine-goal affair. As for the visitors, exactly a third of Rangers’ 15 league games have witnessed over 2.5 goals, three of which have come from their seven trips from home. Further to this, four of the last five league meetings between the two sides have conjured up at least three goals – expect that roll to continue on Sunday.
