Fancy a weekend full of goals and money? No? Well fine, be like that. I hope you enjoy traipsing around B&Q looking for a screwdriver to fix that dodgy toilet seat (just me then?). However, should you change your mind then look no further than a treble on this Saturday’s games to finish with over 2.5 goals. Then just sit back, enjoy the football, watch the money roll in, and then fix that toilet.
When researching which games will provide the best value in this market, it made sense to narrow the leagues down by checking the percentage of games that have finished with over 2.5 goals this season. How proudly I beamed when I saw that the Premier League leads the way in Europe’s majors with 60 per cent. Die Bundesliga was a close second with 59 per cent, then a steep drop to La Liga (49%), Serie A (48%) and Ligue 1 (42%). Given these averages, I have decided to provide two games from England and one from Germany. That’s right, England 2-1 Germany – small victories and all that.
Trusting this treble will see you get overall odds of 467/100, meaning that should you place the free £25 bet you receive when joining bwin.com on this, then you’ll win yourself a cool £141.64, enough to treat the missus on Sunday… with a trip to Homebase.
Over 2.5 goals in Bolton v Everton @ 17/20
This may not jump off the screen as a potential goal-fest, but when I tell you that an incredible 11 out of 12 Premier League games featuring Bolton this season have featured more than 2.5 goals then maybe you’ll cut that cynicism out.
Owen Coyle’s men have been just as deadly at the front as they have been calamitous at the back, which has made for the goal music button at the Reebok to melt.
Everton themselves have also contributed to the high percentage of high-scoring affairs in England, with six out of their 11 matches featuring three or more goals, including four from their last five. With the likes of Ivan Klasnic, Chris Eagles, Tim Cahill and Louis Saha on show, the 17/20 on offer looks like a steal to a simple toilet fixer like me.
Over 2.5 goals in West Brom v Tottenham @ 3/4
One word of warning that may put you off this one. Only one Premier League match at the Hawthorns has featured over 2.5 goals this season.
However, (here’s where I draw you back in, brace yourself), like Bolton, Harry Redknapp’s charges have been swimming in goals this season.
Nine out of their 11 league games have seen three goals or more, and with the in-form Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor likely to feature, Spurs look good to continue their imperious surge up the table.
To win, Tottenham may well need to score two or more, as they have kept just one clean sheet away from home this season. With the likes of Shane Long or Chris Brunt more than capable of grabbing at least a consolation, the 3/4 on offer looks like great value.
Over 2.5 goals in Dortmund v Schalke @ 3/4
Now to Die Bundesliga! (you have to say it with an exclamation mark) and the big encounter between last season’s champions Borussia Dortmund and 2011 Champions League semi-finalists Schalke.
Only just over half of Dortmund’s games have featured over 2.5 goals, but Jurgen Klopp’s men have plenty of firepower which will be sure to trouble Horst Heldt’s charges in the shape of Mario Götze (if fit), Shinji Kagawa, Robert Lewandowski and Lucas Barrios.
However, Die Königsblauen have the only Dutchman who can call Robin van Persie wasteful. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has bagged 12 goals in 12 games this season, which is a big reason as to why ten out of Schalke’s 13 games have seen three or more goals banged in.
With the previous clash between these sides finishing 4-3 to Schalke, 3/4 must be grabbed as fast as a German beach towel is placed… ah you know the rest.
